The view up the street where the
hotel was. I only spent about four hours in Pisa while I
was awake - arrived late at night, explored a bit in the
morning, and caught a train to Florence shortly after
noon. |
The Baptisery, behind the cathedral. |
View out my hotel window. Of all the
places I stayed, this hotel was the most pricey and the
least nice. Still, on the very first night I opened the
shutters and saw a huge full moon right over this bright
yellow wall, and new I was in Italy. |
The leaning tower, leaning. Climbed
this, of course, which was made more physically
challenging than I expected by the strange physics and
its effect on your knees. |

Large indoor cemetary near the tower,
with all kinds of interesting engravings and a huge
fresco cycle from the 12th century. |
Fibinnaci, whose picture I took for
my father and all my math friends. I think he's thinking
of a number, here. |
Interesting view of the tower from up
a ways. |
Pisans seem to love their skulls.
They were everywhere. |

View of the square across from the
tower and cathedral. |
The cathedral, where I saw the first
of many, many "incorrupt" bodies from the
middle ages on display. |
Up close view of the interesting
inset patterns on the cathedral. |
