The window in my hotel room - liked
the colors here a lot.
The first thing I did in Rome was
grab a sandwich and a hat and go snag a spot under this
tree -- the only one in the palace ruins. Spent a few
hours there, writing and watching people.
An Egyptian obelisk at the top of the
Spanish steps.
The Lateran, where the Pope
keeps his chair.
St. Peter's, from a distance.
Sunset from the top of the Spanish
steps. Everyone in town seemed to be up there that night
watching this.
Street scene.
Soldiers on parade in the Villa
Borghese park.
Sid, drawing.
A nun at St. Peters, feeding the
pigeons.
The park at Villa Borghese - we spent
a couple of afternoons laying around on these big grassy
lawns watching people go by.
A
young girl plays with the pigeons at St. Peters while the
Vatican guard looks on.
The
villa behind our hotel.
A
horse and carraige prepare for a busy day in the quiet
morning hours at the Spanish steps.
The
colosseum from Palantine hill. In reality there are no
trees anywhere near it, but I like how rustic and hidden
this picture makes it look.
Sunset
shot - St. Peters is the smaller dome in the distance.
A
building near our hotel at the top of the steps.
Taken
straight up while lying on the ground beneath some of
these beautiful umbrella pines - which was really the
only sane way to spend the hot hours of the afternoon.
Piazza
Navona, which was a good place to go and have breakfast
and on the way to the market, to boot.
