I will feature books in this section that relate to water in all its forms. Water is one of the key essences in our life. Keeping the earth's water pure for our children and finding pure sources of water for ourselves is not an abstract issue. It is our life.

Life's Matrix: A Biography of Water, by Philip Ball, is a comprehensive survey of the history, chemistry, and physics of water, and of humanity's relationship to it. One reader gives the following comments about the book,"Wow. At first having noted the author's vita on the cover, I wasn't certain that an individual trained "only" in chemistry and physics could adequately write a book that was "obviously" about geology. As I read on, however, I realized that Phillip Ball's intention really was to write a "biography of water" as the subtitle suggested. The book in fact contains information about water from almost every perspective: from the origins of its constituent elements oxygen and hydrogen in cosmological processes to it's social and political effects in the modern world. The book covers it all. Because I have almost a complete degree in geology, I enjoyed most particularly the geological effects of water including its effects on geomorphology, its impact on glacial formation, its effect on climate and ocean physics, etc. ..." Cadillac Desert: The American West and Its Disappearing Water, by Marc Reisner, recounts the history of water use in the American West. One reader gives the following comments about the book,"Marc Reisner wrote a classic for the Water ecology set. You will learn so much information that rarely makes it in the news, yet is far more important than the news. Within this book, Reisner explains how water resources are misused due to poor government water policies. The Bureau of Water Reclamation sells water to Western farmers for virtually nothing. In turn, these farmers waste this precious resource by growing rice (the most water intensive crop with the lowest market value) in desertic areas. As a result, farmers use about 75% of all water consumption in the West. ..."
