Season 2

R makes my head spin. There's so much stuff going on!!! Oh well, here goes...

The season starts out with the appearance of two aliens, Ann and Ail (Allan). They have this tree thing (called Makaiju) that gives them life, and in order to sustain it, they think they have to provide it with human energy. They also pose as students, twins, at Usagi's (Serena's) school, calling themselves Ginga Seijuurou and Ginga Natsumi (Allan and Ann Granger, respectively). Despite this ruse, they are actually in love, not brother and sister.

Luna and Artemis are forced to awaken the dormant Sailor Senshi so that they can deal with the threat. Mamoru (Darien), however, does not regain his memories of loving Usagi, nor of being Tuxedo Kamen. Because of this lack, his subconcious splits off into Tsukikage no Knight (Moonlight Knight). He's dressed like an Arab sheik and throws white roses instead of red.

During the course of their aquaintance, Seijuurou developes a crush on Usagi, and Natsumi developes one on Mamoru. Sailor Moon is able to show the aliens, though, that the Makaiju doesn't need energy to survive, it needs love. Taking their new sapling with them, the aliens float off into outer space. Mamoru regains his memories and he and Usagi are in love once again.

As a side note, none of the Ann and Ail stuff was in the manga. It was added to the anime so that the manga could "catch up" to the anime.

Back to our regularly scheduled program... Mamoru and Usagi's happiness is short-lived, however, because suddenly a small, pink-haired child falls out of the sky -- really! She calls herself Tsukino Usagi, but of course this is Usagi's name, so they all call her Chibi-Usa (Rini) for short. No one knows who she is at first, but it's revealed that she's Usagi and Mamoru's child from the future. You see, she was living a happy little life in thirtieth century Crystal Tokyo as the daughter of Neo-Queen Serenity and King Endymion when she decided that she needed to get ahold of the ginzuishou (Silver Imperium Crystal) in order to become a lady like her mother. When she touched it, it disappeared, and the attacking Black Moon Family was able to penetrate the city. The Senshi formed a barrier around Crystal Palace, but Neo-Queen Serenity was wounded and so was put into stasis. Panicked, Chibi-Usa fled to the twentieth century in the hopes of fetching Sailor Moon and her ginzuishou to save her mother and her city.

Taking inspiration from Chibi-Usa (known as Small Lady, or the rabbit), the Black Moon Family sent one of its members (Rubeus) back in time in order to find Chibi-Usa, the ginzuishou, and to take over Tokyo in the past. Rubeus dispatches the Uncanny Sisters, whose names escape me in English at the moment, much less in Japanese! They attack one by one, and Sailor Moon eventually heals them all.

Furious, Rubeus is able to kidnap Chibi-Usa and all the Senshi. Sailor Moon goes to his ship to get them back and defeats him. Esmeraude (Emerald) appears after Sailor Moon and the others leave to mock Rubeus' failure. He screams for her to help him, but she merely laughs and disappears.

At Chibi-Usa's request, the Senshi and Tuxedo Kamen, with the help of Sailor Pluto, travel to the future to save Neo-Queen Serenity. While there, they find out the truth about Chibi-Usa (all that above) and meet a hologram of King Endymion, Mamoru's future self. Chibi-Usa is so depressed at having caused this major mishap that she runs away and is kidnapped the by Wiseman, the ringleader of the whole Black Moon invasion. He feeds her distorted versions of her memories, turning her into Black Lady (Wicked Lady), a dark, grown-up version of herself. The Senshi hurry back to the present to help her.

Meanwhile, Saffiiru (Sapphire) gets killed by Wiseman because he realizes that the Black Moon Family is just being used in order to help the Death Phantom get the ginzuishou and take over the Universe. It's sad when Saffiru bites it. :(

So somehow the Senshi get into a position to face Wiseman, and they attempt to fight him. Prince Dimando (Diamond; the head of the family), who is in love with Neo-Queen Serenity and, thus, Sailor Moon, realizes that his brother was right, Wiseman is just using them, and throws himself between Sailor Moon and an attack. He's able to hurt Wiseman, who turns into the Death Phantom. Desperate, Sailor Moon decides to use the ginzuishou. It isn't working, but then Chibi-Usa (who has returned to herself thanks to Tuxedo Kamen and the Senshi) realizes that she didn't lose the ginzuishou of the future after all, but instead absorbed it into her body. Using a combination of Sailor Moon's Crystal and Chibi-Usa's from the future, they're able to defeat the Death Phantom.

Crystal Tokyo is saved, Chibi-Usa returns to the future to be with her family and everyone else goes back to the present. All is well!
