The Cutest Critters of Anime

space Cute Cute Pet Shop: Adopt a pet today!

My 'pet' from the Cute Cute Petshop: Totto-Chan!
space

Aren't these cuties the absolute limit? They are SOOO CUTE! I was on the verge of calling this site "anime pets" or something, but I thought it too insulting for these intelligent (if only slightly articulate) characters to be termed "pets." (In these pages, pet is the term of choice for non-Critter creatures, with one exception =)

Any creature that hangs around with the leading characters is a qualified critter. What sets them apart from other creatures in anime is, first of all, their singular ability to turn a one word vocabulary into a conversation: Mokona's "Puupupupuu!" or Ryo-oki's meowing. This doesn't mean that all of them are monosyllabic--some are very expressive, after all. Their other distinguishing trait is that they aren't normal creatures per se--just look at my Totoro pet Totto-chan!

As in my other pages, I put up the Critters alphabetically--I refuse to show any favoritism in placement. The images here were stolen from other sites (you WILL be credited) and chopped up/enhanced/resized as I saw fit to emphasize the Critters. If you've any violent objections, feel free to contact me and if you've found a new Critter for this page, please, please fill up my form! I need all the help I can get.

Luna and Artemis
Artemis and Luna
from the series Sailormoon/R/S/SS/Stars

I know I once said that the Sailormoon cats are considered (by me, at any rate) to be full characters and not critters, but I'm reversing myself on this. Since I've already added Diane, and no other category fits the mooncats, I figured I might as well out them in.

Luna and Artemis are the long-suffering cats of Sailor Moon and Sailor Venus. They guide the scouts in early episodes, give them the benefit of their experience and that sort of thing. Luna in particular has her work cut out for her! In the Sailormoon R movie, the scenes between her and Artemis are sooooo sweeeeeet!! =)

Chickie
from the series Akazukin Cha-Cha

Remember that little pink blob of a bird in Akazukin Cha-Cha, the one that turned out to be the Phoenix (!?!?!?!) Anyway, at first I didn't want to include him because as far as I knew he only appeared in one episode. As the series drew to a close though, I saw that Chickie reverted to bird status so I decided I could legitimately add him.

Why? Well, because he's so cute. Honestly, the way he valiantly tried to save Chacha and her friends says something about him... At the end of the series he joined in on all the ridiculous "best magician in the world" competitions, adding his own brand of kawaii comic relief to the events.

Diane
Diane
from the series Sailormoon Super S/Sailorstars

Lord Tenchi says:
You forgot the cutest little kitty on Sailor Moon, Diana is sooooo cute, her voice is sweet and ya have to love the fact that she travled back in time just to see her parents. I also like how she sits on ChibiUsa's head all the time. Plus she grey, it's cute that way because her mom is black and her dad is white. I LUV the way her little bell jingles when she walks around

So now the entire family of moonkitties are up on the Cutest Critters pages! =)

Puu
Puu
from the series Yu Yu Hakusho

Puu started out as a sort of blue flying Mokona-like thing. He was hatched from an egg that Yuusuke was taking care of to prove his worth in the beginning of the series. Puu is in some way a part of Yuusuke; Puu knows what he is feeling/experiencing. Later on, he is revealed in all his glory when Yuusuke is reborn (again): he becomes a black-maned blue phoenix-like bird. He looks really cool...

Among my favorite scenes with him in it was when Yuusuke received the power of his teacher. Puu tried to ease his suffering by bringing him water cradled in his arms/ears--except that he kept spilling it. Then he's trudge back to the poolside to get more water, spill it again and go back again... :::sniff::: He's so cuuuuuute!

Tama-neko!
Tama-Neko
from the series Fushigi Yuugi

BOGDAN SFATCU says:
          Where's Tama-neko?!!!! He's cutest critter of all!

Come on! Tama-chan, Mitsukake's incredibly intelligent pet kitten who bears an uncanny resemblance to the best Seishi of all time Chichiri, canNOT be missing from this site. In apology, I would like to say that I didn't add him until now because he would have been alone on this page, and I require at least 2 characters per page...
