Running / Sprinting / Long Jump / High Jump / Javelin / Shot Putt / Discus
Running events carry the risk of adductor strain and hamstring sprains. Long distance runs on hard surfaces leaves runners with shin splints and stress fractures. Kick type movements lead to quad injuries (such as Osgood-Schlatter's disease). Javelin throwers and shot putt throwers both have their own injuries -- javelin thrower's elbows caused by round arm throwing; and shot putt's fingers, a sprain of the three fingers used for the final acceleration. In high jumpers, Fosbury Flop ankle is caused by twisting of the lower leg on take off.
