Jerry Lopez Sineneng has a film degree from the University of the Philippines. Even before graduating from college, he had already set his heart out to make films. He began as a wardrobe master in 1986 for Regal Films where he would later serve as art director, then production designer and production manager. After his stint with Regal, he worked with Peque Gallaga also as production manager. As a member of Gallagas production team, he went on to dabble in writing the scripts for the renowned director. He then got to both write and direct for the small screen via the legal drama, Ipaglaban Mo. The big-screen version of the hit soap opera, Mara Clara, is his first full-length film effort in 1996. His other directorial credits include Ang Pulubi at ang Prinsesa (1997); FlamesEpisode I, Tameme (1997); Kung Ayaw Mo, Huwag Mo (1998); Labs Kita, Okay Ka Lang (1998) and Soltera (1999) with which he achieved much success as he won the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences award for the screenplay of the dramatic film he co-wrote with Jun Lana.
