PROBLEM
SOLUTION
Missing shortcut customization.
After so many version updates, why hasn't Quark given us the ability
to customize our shortcuts? Some obvious places where this would
come in handy: "export to pdf", "fit box to picture".
Let's hope this feature will be implimented in
the next version.
Interface problem: Collect for Output.
The progress bar for Collect for Output incorrectly places the item
being reffered to by "Currently Collecting" UNDER the
grey progress bar, thereby hiding the text (see Fig. 5).
More problems with Collect for Output.
QuarkXpress still doesn't collect for output into a folder by default.
This means that if you're not careful, you may end up with a lot
of loose files all over your desktop or wherever you collected to.
Also, Q6 doesn't give you the option of collecting your files into
one directory without any subfolders... the "pictures"
folder is always included.
Interface problem: OS 9 watch icon.
The cursor will turn into the old OS 9 "watch" icon for
no apparent reason.
Move the cursor or click on something.
New picture box selection method.
When selecting a picture box containing an EPS with transparent
areas, you can no longer select the object by clicking anywhere
inside the box. This can be very taxing when selecting logos or
artwork that has thin lines or type. This behaviour doesn't occur
when selecting text boxes. Is this a new "feature" or
a bug?
You must select a non-transparent area of the picture
box.
Text highlight problem.
When selecting text, the highlight function sometimes doesn't work
as expected, resulting in a text box that actually has all text
selected, but doesn't appear to.
Force redraw (Command-Option-Period) or
zoom out/in.
Embedded rules problem.
A very strange bug sometimes occurs when you have embedded rules
within a text box. If the document size is smaller than the paper
that it's being printed on, the rules will SOMETIMES not print.
The rules WILL however appear on a PDF of the document.
One workaround is to make the document size the
same as the paper size. For example, if your original document size
was 10 x 13 and you want to print centered on Tabloid, change your
actual document size to 11 x 17.
