A
burgundian city.
Antwerp
still has something of Burgundy about it. Eating and drinking here is sheer delight.
The Sinjoren have elevated this ritual into an art, the art of living:
take your time and savor every moment. The hundreds of cafés and restaurants
provide a form of culture too, one that comes in all the colors of the rainbow
with all the smells of the world’s best cuisines.
Each has its own atmosphere and character.
Many ancient buildings have been turned into a restaurant or
café. That is partly what
gives Antwerp its atmosphere. Going
out to eat here is an occupation of a whole evening..,,,,,,,,
Doing
a terrace
is a favourite pastime
in Antwerp.
From your seat at one of the narrow street cafés around the cathedral
you will feel the pulse of the city which can be unbelievably busy, particularly
in summer. Thousands
of people flock to the old city for the famous carillon concerts.
Some people prefer one of the squares.
The Town square is the most beautiful square of the city as well as the
historic heart of it.
It is one of the most pleasant squares in the city (certainly since
traffic has been banned from it).
