THE ALLIES OF THE
SPACE KNIGHTS

While not officially members of the Space Knights (with the possible exception of Pegus, the Teknobot), these characters do help in the fight against the spider crabs and evil Teknomen. They also play very important parts in the saga.
This man is only in the "good guy" section by virtue of the fact that he fights against the Venemoids. He is a maniac, and almost killed countless humans in an attempt to wipe out the Space Ring and the spider-crabs on it. He sees Slade as nothing more than a weapon to be used against Earth's enemies, and soldiers and the Space Knights as mere pawns in the game. He cares nothing for people, only victory.
Balzac Saint Jaques is a spy sent by General Galt in the guise of a reporter who snoops around the Space Knights Command Center. Though pictured here clean-shaven, later on he sports a beard. His job is to find out as much about Slade as he can. After the millitary scientists have their way with Slade, Balzac benifits tremendoulsy. His reward is the chance to pilot the prototype Tekno-suit, with its Z-tron cannon for blowing away spider-crabs. Thus, he sees himself as the replacement for the inhuman monster Teknoman Slade. He is greatly successful against the mindless beasts, but when he goes one-on-one with Saber, his luck takes a turn for the worse. His weapons are no match for Saber, and he gets blown away by Saber's beam-weapon.
Shara is Slade's long-lost sister. She appears only in flashback at first, then late in the first season she is seen wandering the deserts somewhere in the middle east. Deathly ill, a blood transfusion at the Command Center after she finds her brother prolongs her life just long enough to jog Slade's memory and fight off the Teknomen ravaging the Command Center. She destroys Saber, and new Teknomen Lance, Axe, and Rapier. The cost is high, though, as she was able to do so only by self-destructing. Sad occasion though this was, her death was one of the most beautifully-animated explosions I have ever seen.
Commander Miles O'Rourke is a man's man. (No picture, though) He reminds me of Lee Marvin in the Dirty Dozen. He is ony seen briefly, though, during the millitary action known as Opperation: Winning Hand, an assault on the Space Ring's spider-crab hatcheries. He was saddened by the outcome of the action, even though it was a smashing success. He said, "So you think this was a success, do you? I lost two good men on this mission. Two men whose families will never see them again. The top brass may only think about tradeoffs and ratios, but we know the truth. War is about people, Slade; don't ever forget that." He also named the Teknobot and is known for singing "Soldier Boy."

The teknobot Pegus charges up the power of the shattered Tekno-crystal and allows Slade to transform via the interlok chamber. Pegus' chest pops open, and Slade jumps in. The Teknobot is launched and flies around for a bit. Then, the chamber opensup and ut pops Teknoman Slade. Pegus then transforms into a platform for Slade to ride (a la Silver Surfer's cosmic surf board) as he slashes through spider-crabs. O'Rourke named him an abreviated version of the mythical flying horse, Pegasus. Late in the first season, Pegus is given an anti-matter warhead beam weapon to use in conjunction with Slade's, giving the pair a devastating attack. Earlier on, though, he learns "Soldier Boy" from Commander O'Rourke.
