Summit
Ridge |
As
you arrive at the south rim, across an intervening valley rises
the summit ridge. From here the map shows the climbing route descending
this valley and then climbing again up the opposite side to the
same level you are standing at - then on up to the summit. However,
experienced climbers rarely like to give back elevation gained when
it can be avoided, so the route of choice for many is to turn right
and traverse along the south rim to the east until you gently arrive
at the junction of the southeast rim and the summit ridge. The short
distance traverse is worth the trade off to avoid descending and
climbing again when you have made it to this elevation. |
