"To provide safe, reliable, convenient, courteous, responsive transit service to Raleigh and the greater Durham area."

--RT Mission

Transit Information

Raleigh Transit is operated by the Exenkley County Transportation District (ECTD). In 2000, RT acquired Line 12 (Bennett University to Raleigh, including Durham and Horace Williams Airport) from Durham Area Rapid Transit (DART), and operates this service in addition to two local service routes in Raleigh (10 and 11), and service to Greenwich via McLeod Road. At rush hour, the Durham Commuter operates between downtown Durham and Raleigh Transit Center.

Passenger Policies

While riding RT, all passengers are prohibited to engage in activities which:
Interfere with the driver's ability to safely operate the bus
Threaten the health, safety, or well-being of any person or his or her property
    Damage or deface the vehicle
In addition, state laws prohibit:
    Evading payment of bus fare
    Disturbing other bus riders
Smoking, eating, drinking, or expectorating while on the bus.

Bus Stops

All bus stops in the Raleigh Transit system are indicated on the maps by bullets. Flagging, or hailing the bus is acceptable in extreme cases but we ask you wait at a designated bus stop so that the bus will not fall behind schedule and will be able to move safely out of traffic and into a safe place for boarding. Buses will in no case stop in a 40 m.p.h. or above zone.
