- First performance of Stillwater
Word International Ministries Anniversary with Ray-An Fuentes
as its Guest Speaker. The celebration was held at the Westin Hotel
in Princeton, New Jersey. Right after the service, the REDEEMED
band performed 8 songs. All original compositions. While performing,
we noticed Ray-an Fuentes on the far right front row listening
and reading the lyrics on the projection screen. After the perfomance,
the Bas Family talked to Vinia, about a possible gig on August
2 in South River, NJ. Praise God!!!

Brothers, how are you all? I am very excited because I got the
chance to sit down with Ray An Fuentes and discuss with him what
we need to improve ourselves. Yetski, Rene and Jemar were also
there.
He gave us many good suggestions and advices as what we need to
do to write really good songs so we can "hook" our audience
the second they hear a song. But we have to start from square
one again. But that's ok because all we need to do is change a
few things.
Rene suggested we have some kind of workshop. Jemar and I discussed
about rearranging most of our songs. Those of you who are interested
please let us know. Imagine, someone who is a real professional
was giving us free advice! We should take this opportunity!
I, for one, would like to continue this band and get more exposure...all
of you who are in favor, please say so.
By the way, we have a gig on August 2, Saturday. Does everyone
agree on this? We will talk about this more later on Wednesday.
God bless you all. - Vince.

Hi Guys,
Last night was very refreshing, we talked with Ray-an Fuentes
and we really learned a lot from him, how i wish na dala ko yung
folder ng mga kanta natin because he is a very lyrical person,
he says you can compose two ways, by putting the melody first
or the lyrics first, but it is easier if you put the melody first,
he did not say it was better to put the melody first but it was
easier, he gave us advice on some of our songs, He liked Redeemed
but ok sana kaso we made a mistake sa coda at mas mabuti pa daw
na either iksian yung coda or tanggalin kasi yung chorus na may
voicing ng IN YOU ay na- reretain talaga sa memory ng mga tao,
dapat daw we should emphasize the part na maaalala ng tao, too
much melody makes it harder to remember at mawawala ang "HOOK"
natin, which is very important.
It
was really a nice experience talking to him and we learned a lot
from him, one thing he also said was that the Title must have
a "hook" with the song, so i am changing REDEEMED to
IN YOU, i thought before that as long as the theme is expressed
in the song it doesn't matter if the Title isn't mentioned in
the song as long as it is in raltion to the theme, he corrected
me about that and told me that it adds to the "Hook"
of the song and the memory retention for the people who listen.
He also explained the basic verse and chorus structure of a song
that must be followed, sa GLORY kasi ibang yung structure natin
but i think its still a nice song.
I think it was helpful that we had our songs in the projector
kasi nakita ko si Ray-an tinitingnan talaga yung lyrics, the problem
we had is yung kainan ay nasa right side natin at yung projector
nasa left at di na nila nakita yung lyrics, plus di daw masyado
rinig yung voice sa malayo, but its ok kasi di naman natin alam
saan pupwesto yung mga tao kaya di natin napwesto yung projector.
I am really excited cause i know God has a plan for us, all this
things we do are for His glory and praise, continue to pray for
our band and let us have "meetings" to discuss things,
what i mean about meeting is not the talk that we have before
we practice but to sit down and talk and have suggestions and
maybe eat at the same time hehehe to discuss things.
Maybe we can do some special numbers in future sunday services
kahit isang song lang, maybe we can collaborate with ate chona's
choir, i am really excited, sa dedication ni Gabriel sa sunday
we can dedicate the song FOLLOW for him, "that he might follow
and obey God as he grows up" actually di na lang nga nasama
ni Ate Malou yung mga bible verse sa projector kung saan galing
yung ibang songs kasi wala ng time, maybe we can start some songs
by reading the verse where we got the inspiration to write it,
parang praise and worship exhortation before we go to the song.
I hope to see you all this Wed., thanks for your dedication to
what God has planted in our hearts, let us continue to pray for
our band and to one another, God Bless you all.
In Christ,
Jemar

First of all, thank you for agreeing to sing at the celebration
of my son's dedication. I just wanted to know what time you were
planning on being there. The dedication ceremony would start at
11:00am. If you would be there by then and have set up your equipment,
we would not need to bring a microphone for Pastor Mando to use
during the ceremony. But if you would be coming after the ceremony,
then we'd have to provide our own microphone and corresponding equipment.
No problem, really, just wanted to know if we should plan on bringing
them or not (as we are quickly running out of space in the car),
so please let us know. We'd also like to know how many are coming
so we could include the count for food preparation.
Also, I understand that the songs that you were singing last Sunday
during the snack/lunchtime were your own composition and we're looking
forward to
listening to them again but I was hoping we could begin your repertoire
with some praise songs (the kind that you normally sing at Sunday
worship
services), to kind of start with familiar ground.
Thanks again, and I'm hoping to hear from you soon.

Guys,
Boyet cannot make it on Saturday, we all understand because of Mildred's
due date is very soon. Joey cannot make it either.
But Vinia has a friend who may be willing to play keyboard for us
on maybe just 4 songs. Rene, you will have to lead. Do not worry,
I saw our video and you are definitely a natural on stage. There
is no need for a backup singer. Kuya Frank, when is a good time
to have band practice? I am thinking next week on a Friday, just
a quick run. This week, Regina is working and I have to be with
the kids.
Please let us know. God bless.

Kahit
wala ng keyboards ok lang, kahit guitars na lang tayo it will do,
except sa FORTRESS only one guitar will do the solo. Talagang natural
si Kuya Rene, i remember yung easter 2002 Video, makikita mo na
talagang natural performer siya.
Ok sa akin ang Friday ng Aug. 1 to practice pero around night time.

Regarding the gig on Aug. 2, who will take care of the speakers.
I know Boyet G. has the main speakers but he is not going and what
about the monitor speakers who has that. We need both speakers to
sound decent. Do you think it's worth the effort even if we're not
complete and we're only doing few songs.
We
can do the practice on Friday next week after the P&W. Who
actually said yes to the gig? Next time all of us should agree
and talk about it first before making any decision. It's much
better if we can all be there. It's not the same if two of our
members are missing. Do you agree? But since most of you agreed
already it is also not nice to back out.

Kuya Frank,
We can still back out. I think none of us made a firm commitment
to this. Hindi ko alam kung anong napag-usapan nila Ate Vinia and
Gina. Nagpadala na lang sa amin si Gina ng e-mail asking about our
plan for this gig so I forwarded it to all of you and asked your
opinion so I can relay it to Gina. I think, we should talk about
it and make our final decision so I can respond to Gina.
Thanks,
Rene |
