8/10/02 - So, a Document, a side-story and an E-card reader walk into this bar...
Konami has announced that the Document of Metal Gear Solid 2 is on its way to the US September 24th. The special-edition PS2 DVD contains tons of information on last year's hit, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.

The DVD is divided into two sections, VR Missions (a collection of, what else, MGS2 training missions) and Making which includes: Character and Machine sections that provide artwork and dossiers of the game's inhabitants, a Background section that allows you an in-depth look at the game's environments, the Ploygon Demos give show the game's storyboards and allow you to watch all of the cut-scenes with total control over the camera, a Chronicle section creates a timeline of the game's development and gives you behind-scenes-looks at Konami's marketing department, the Items section allows US gamers a glimpse of all the groovy MGS2 merchandise they miss out on by not living in Japan (@#$%!) and there's Program, Sound, Game Plan, Script and Staff sections that all cover what their titles imply.

In non-huge-run-on-sentences news (holy crap is that thing huge or what?) Nintendo has recently released some new info about its NES E-card reader for Game Boy Advance. To be released on September 17th for about $40, the reader will allow gamers to download and play classic NES games on their GBAs, by way of a pack of cards. The first 5 games to be sold will be Donkey Kong Jr., Pinball, Balloon Fight, Tennis, and Excitebike. Retailing for $4.95, each game comes in a set of 5 cards.

Finally, despite the severe lack of information regarding the two promised PS2 Final Fantasy X side-stories, Square has announced that they still plan to release both titles later this year. Few details about the games are know at this time, but they will each follow a different characer (Yuna and Rikku) and will be based on the Final Fantasy X engine.

8/10/02 - Ready to role-play?
There's a new RPG Maker game in development. Designed for GBA, gamers can create their own adventures on-the-go sometime next year. At this point, it is not known if the game will head stateside.
