Entry 3 Continued... The townsfolk took one look at my emblem on the shield and started shouting out Father’s name. I took off my helmet and announced us. You would be surprised how many people so far away still can recite his deeds like it was yesterday. Anyhow, we headed to the headman’s house to speak to Barrow. He told us of some general problems in the area, and suggested we check out the graveyard for clues. We found lots of dug up graves and many empty shelves where bodies had been raised and marched out of there, but we were unable to find out which direction they had gone. We just guessed and tried east. After a few hours of that, we gave up, and headed back to town. When we got back into Gand, a mob of people gathered and wanted to now if we had yet felled the evil creatures. I tried to explain that these things take time, but they got pretty disappointed and dispersed. I guess that they were expecting a dead necromancer on a pole. So we went back to Barrow’s house and were told of an old tracker from the area who might know some information about the land to that direction. It was still pretty bright out, so we headed over to his cabin and were introduced to Seinick. I think that you might like him. He had that whole ruggedly handsome thing going on like you like so much. He might even be single! But anyway, he told us about the area, and gave us a general direction to go looking for. We thanked him for his help and went back to Barrow to see if he had any maps of the area. I was dead tired that evening when we got back to town, but I put on a good face, and sat strait in the saddle. I told the townsfolk some more information, but they were pretty unhappy with our findings so far. Aria tried to help by using common sense on them, but they were expecting results faster than we could give them. After the crowd dispersed, I sat down where Aria and ordered us both some supper. She had sat down at the same table with this really strange fellow. I tried to be really bold like father was when he wanted to meet a new person, but this guy wasn’t responsive at all. He was all dark and shadowed in his cloak. After giving up on trying to be sociable, I took off my helmet and sat it on the ground. As soon as it hit the floor, I heard this really high-pitched squeaking sound. I lifted my helmet and saw that I had inadvertently squished a rat. To my surprise, the rat got up and started to climb on this guy’s cloak. And mother, I swear to Kord, this rat looked up at me and started squeaking obscenities at me! I tried to apologize to the guy in the cloak, but he was a real pain, and was obviously upset. Aria bailed me out of that jam. She talked the guy into letting me heal his rat. I used my divine magic to close his wounds, and the guy seemed a little better. He finally introduced himself then, and said what he was doing in Gand. He was some type of a traveler just passing through, but he had some arcane skills that could come in handy. We took his offer for help, and I left to go get some sleep. Aria stayed behind and talked to Bron for a while longer. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
