Entry 6 Dear Mother, Well we didn’t get much time to come up with any plans to invade the fortress, as when we woke up the next morning we had apparently been spotted. As I was finishing my porridge an arrow flew down from above and stuck in the ground right beside me. I looked around, but didn’t see anybody who might have shot it. After checking out the arrow, I saw that it had a note attached to it. The note was well written and told us that we were surrounded and should surrender. Aria and I started discussing just how we should verify that we were surrounded and some possibilities of how to get out of it when the Necromancer himself walked right into our campsite. I tried to be bold and darning, but I was quaking inside. Anybody who is sick enough to raise someone back after they have died is just plain evil in my book. He started talking about what he was going to do to us if we didn’t surrender, and then started telling us why he was doing it. Seinic, the tracker from Gand, was this Necromancer’s most hated enemy in the entire world. Apparently Seinic had killed the mage about forty years earlier during a battle in which Seinic didn’t even remember. The Mage was raised just recently by his grandson for quite a hefty sum, and to say thanks to his grandson, he slew him as the sacrifice for the ceremony and raised him as his undead servant! We were all appalled except for Seinic. He was still trying to figure out if he really knew the mage, or in what circumstances he was killed. The fact that Seinic couldn’t remember the Necromancer only angered him even more than he was to begin with. He finally stamped out of camp and his entire undead army attacked us in force! I fell back on my training within the temple, and focused Farsk’s power into his symbol which I wear around my neck. With that symbol I attempted to turn the evil creatures back so that they would run instead of fight us. It worked, but only on the less powerful skeletons. I did the same again, and it worked again in the same way, but only this time it blew up the skeletons instead of turning them away! I was greatly impressed. But after only two times of trying that action, I found myself surrounded by undead of all assortments: ghouls, skeletons and zombies! I dropped my shield previously being used for protection, and reached for the two handed Greatsword just like Father’s. I waded through ghouls to the left, and through zombies to the right. I tried to locate the Necromancer, but he was still staying hidden. Aria was having quite a bit of trouble with the ones that she was near, as she had to try to smash the skeletons with the flat of her blade instead of the sharp edge. Seinic was absolutely amazing. I didn’t get to see much of the battle that he and Aria fought up on the ridge, but during this battle, he showed a glimpse of what he must have been like in his day. After only a minute or two, the undead around him began to pile up until he had nowhere to go! |
