Dolist Campaign

The Dolist campaign world starts in the early 21st century, specifically the year 2040. It is a very different world than our current world, but is one that could have occured if things had gone differently in our recent history.

The Dolist world takes it name from "The Dole" which is slang for welfare. In the Dolist world, there are millions of people on the Dole. The middle class is heavily squeezed and trying to stay out of the working class or dolist class. The rich are very rich and are very powerful and relatively few in number. Most of the world is very class stratified. It is a world of big powerful corporations, an intrusive government in most countries and lots of inflation with high unemployment.

The Dolist campaign is based upon the rules for Psi-World, published by Fantasy Games Unlimited. It is modeled upon the Psi-World option of a democratic government trying to deal with emergent psi powers. It is presumed in this campaign that only an extremely small minority of the population has psionic powers, and that people wielding them have the capability to subvert or otherwise be a threat to the legitimate government and mundanes. Psionics is still a new and hardly known issue in Earth society. Not many people believe in psionics, and nobody who can repeatedly demonstrate psi powers has stepped forward to be part of a public controlled test.

Psis are rare, and there is no mechanical means yet of determining who is or is not a psi. People faking psi powers are easy to flush out, but proving that a person is a psi is tougher if they don’t want you to know about it unless an Empath tests them. Since psis are not widely known of, and the government does not want to acknowledge their existence, there is no discrimination against psis.
