CONCERT GUIDELINES

No Admittance During Performance

There is no admittance during musical selections. The Students and their Directors work very hard during the school year to provide the best performance possible to their audience. As a courtesy to them, and to those concert-goers sitting near the back of the auditorium, no one is allowed to enter the auditorium during musical selections. All concert-goers are encouraged to time their exits and returns accordingly.

No Talking During Performance
As a courtesy to the Students, their Directors, and to other concert-goers, kindly refrain from talking or otherwise disturbing others during musical selections.

No Congregating In Foyer
Should you choose to forego the remainder of the concert following your Student's portion of the performance, please refrain from congregating in the foyer outside the auditorium. Noise from the foyer may disturb those concert-goers sitting near the back of the auditorium. If you chose to remain for the rest of the concert, your student must be seated with you. Students are not to congregate in or out of the auditorium.

No Food or Beverages In Auditorium
School policy dictates that no food or beverages be brought into the auditorium at any time.

The Schor School Band Rules

When you become a member of this band, you do so knowing your obligations and our excellent reputation. It is now your responsibility not only to maintain this reputation, but also to raise it a notch higher. We are recognized as a "class act" because the previous members would settle for nothing less.

Please think seriously about the fact that you will be treated like a mature responsible person and you are expected always to act like one. You will be held accountable for your own actions.

The Code of Conduct will be in effect at all scheduled band activities. Examples of disciplinary options contained under each Level of misbehavior will be interpreted by the director, staff and building level administrators whenever necessary.

Disrespect of any staff member, parent volunteer or fellow student will not be tolerated and will result in disciplinary action.

Students are to remain in designated areas during ALL scheduled band activities.

Any departure or absence without parental or staff permission are grounds for permanent dismissal from the band.

8 Golden Rules For A Successful Band Career
1. Always conduct yourself in a manner that brings credit to you, your family, your community and your school, and such that you are a positive reflection of the proud traditions of The Schor School Band and Piscataway, NJ.

2. Refrain from the use of tobacco, alcoholic beverages or drugs.

3. Be honest, courteous and sportsmanlike in all dealings with your band director, fellow band members, and chaperones.

4. Refrain from foul language and comments. This is a reflection on you, your family and the The Schor School Band.

5. Adult chaperons are available to assist you. They should receive your complete cooperation and respect. They really don't come along just to give you a hard time or "ruin your fun."

6. Watch, listen and cooperate with the director and adults during band
functions.

7. Special care should be taken to see that all personal and school property is

properly cared for. Pack instruments carefully for travel. Place identification tags on all school and personal items. Record serial numbers for home records and for identification. Take care that nothing is damaged, lost, or misplaced when needed.

8. Be at the right place, at the right time for all band activities with the proper
equipment, attire and attitude. Remember - be early because "on time" is late!

Band by its very name suggest teamwork, ensemble, and great cooperation, with everyone striving for a common goal. This all comes at a time in a middle school students life when students are striving for individual identity. A very small number of students find that they can't make this kind of sacrifice and become disruptive discipline problems in band class. These students will not be allowed to affect the quality of learning taking place in that class. Continued problems can result in that student being removed from band at the end of the school year. Band students need to accept responsibility for their actions, good or bad, and go on.
All discipline problems will be handled on an individual basis.

DAILY RULES AND PROCEDURES
The following is the guideline to a successful rehearsal. These guidelines should be considered rules. Violations of these rules are negative to the band program. The student who violates the rules is responsible for reducing the amount of time for rehearsal and consequently is hurting the entire band.
