Which Way To Go? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
VOLUME 1 ISSUE 9 Newsletter date March 2000 Funakoshi sensei and his rules of life! Sensei had a set of rules that he lived and trained by. He set them down in writing for people to try to understand the true meaning of Karate-do. Unfortunately for us No.3 has been lost in time... 1. You must be deadly serious in training. 2. Train with both heart and soul without worrying about the ory. 3. 4. Avoid self-conceit and dogmatism. 5. Try to see yourself as you truly are and try to adopt what is meritorious in work of others. 6. Abide by the rules of ethics in your daily life, whether in public or private. |

CAN WE TRAIN THE WAY WE DO OR CAN WE TRAIN WITH A SENSE OF RESPECT? As you know we try to instil in you the importance of respect for your fellow students, the Dojo and your Sensei's.This is a very important part of your training and shold not be taken lightly. The reason for taking part in the art of Shotokan through repetitive training is to enable a person to gain the knowledge of self defence using this art. Part of your training is discipline, the discipline in this school can be broken into three parts; 1) discipline towards your training. 2) discipline in having respect for others. 3) discipline to enable you to achive your ultimate goal. If these three area's are just taken lightly you will never be able to put as much commitment into your training as is needed to gain the knowledge that you originally set out to learn. Ther is no super human secrets in the martial arts only hard work. Repetition of your training techniques and the knowledge gained from other peoples experiences and there dedication. |
