Loss of Freedom

Dependence Day—Why Celebrate?

Independent From What?

Tuesday, July 3, 2001 12:00 a.m.

A long time ago in a land of liberty now far, far away, there was an annual sacred event called Independence Day. Back in those days, it was liberty and freedom that the nation celebrated. We saluted 56 extraordinary men who risked everything so their descendents would have freedom.

Today, it is called the Fourth of July since kids, being indoctrinated to socialism at the schools, are never taught what freedom is, what liberty is, what independence is, and the time slot for American History has been replaced with assembly time for various socialist groups. Ask the neighbor kid what all the fuss is about and he will just say "dude, it is the fireworks!" I challenge anyone to get the kid next-door to give a brief summary of what the founding of our nation was all about.

A better modern name would be "Dependence Day" since there are more Americans dependent on tax confiscation of others than there are those who are free and independent. We could also call it "In Dependence Day" since about 55% of tax payers pay practically no taxes so are thus "in a dependence" lifestyle. We also have 15 million illegal aliens soaking up freebies that even the Republican leaders say is just fine and dandy. And President Bush? Why, he was as proud as a peacock to say that his new budget would take "6 million families off the tax rolls."

Back in the days freedom, Ronald Reagan would have been looking for 6 million families to add to the tax rolls. The honorable one would have said something to the effect of "give them opportunity and training, get them on the tax rolls, get them to move up the economic ladder and pay even more taxes as they climb the ladder of freedom and opportunity." That was the proud and just philosophy that Reagan and many other old timers had during the days of opportunity and liberty.

So on the 4th, go slam down a beer and a hamburger and celebrate the fact half the country is dependent on your money that has been confiscated from you and given to people with a vocabulary limited to "gimmee-gimmee." Enjoy the fireworks.

Why celebrate?

As you cram hot dogs and beer down your throat, ask yourself what the hell you are celebrating. Independence? Independent from what? Increasing tax slavery? Billion dollar "refunds" to pot smoking California hippies who did not want power plants built? The far too many billions to Education Wasteland? The founding fathers bestowed freedom and liberty upon us. If you plan on celebrating liberty, you better first look at the agenda of the socialists now in control of the Senate. If you want to celebrate freedom, you better figure out how you plan to survive when tax confiscation of your money dramatically increases as the boomers retire and the 55% non-taxpayers grows to 70% non-taxpayers.

Tom Dasshole announced that the litmus test for Supreme Court justices will be "ideology"—his socialist/communist/taxing slave master ideology. Do you want to light a roman candle to that?

And President Bush—he just announced he would open up the flood gates of lawsuits by allowing people to sue HMOs in the "Patient Bill of Rights" deal. I suppose he wants to see if he can out do Hitlery in how best to destroy the finest health care in the world. Go ahead and set off a few cherry-bombs to celebrate that brilliant Bushism. He should have just pulled a Jeffords before doing that.

In 1783, during a period in our history when Bostonians believed in freedom, Boston was the first city to officially designate July Fourth as a holiday. This 4th, you will probably find Ted Kennedy in Boston reading his favorite passages from Karl Marx. And Barney Frank will more than likely . . . we better not talk about what Barney Frank is doing on the 4th.

Having the Boston of today being the first city to celebrate freedom is like having Alec Baldwin as a hero in a movie about Pearl Harbor.

In 1986, Ronald Reagan spent Independence Day in New York where he visited the battleship USS Iowa. In addition to reviewing the tall ships and other festivities, he visited the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy where he viewed the fireworks in New York harbor. Do you know how Felon Clinton spent Independence Day in 1998? He was flying back from China where he handed over God knows how many nuclear secrets to Jiang Zemin. He probably spent the evening figuring out how to money launder the millions he got for being a traitor while the rest of the country was listening to patriotic music and awaiting the fireworks.

Think about that comparison when you hear the Boston Pops play Stars and Stripes Forever on the 4th.

So go ahead and celebrate the 4th. Don't mind me if I am nowhere to be found. It is just too pathetic watching all of you party on a day called Independence Day as this nation digs its roots further into the socialist slave state cesspool.

I think I will spend Independence Day watching Saving Private Ryan while I reminisce about those gallant men who died—in vain—to keep our country free.

I hope that all Americans reflect on the state of this country and use Independence Day as a day to start their own personal effort to reclaim our lost freedom. We have gone from a free country to a taxing slave state. Please use the love you have for your country to rally your friends in reclaiming our lost freedom.
