Note: The following description is based on the anime series and the two movies.
Sakura, a ten year old girl, is a 4th grader at Tomoeda Elementary school. She lives with her father and older brother. Her mother died when she was three. She is very good at physical activites, and is on the cheerleading squad at school. As athletically gifted as she is, occasionally she would gets distracted and makes mistakes. Although she is really scared of ghosts, all thanks to the past teasing of her brother, Touya, when confronted by what seems like a ghost, she would grit her teeth and do what needs to be done. She is very kind-hearted, and thinks of how her actions will affect others.
Sakura accidentally opened the Book of Clow during one afternoon after school, releasing and scattering all the cards except one. The process woke the Guardian Beast of the Seal, Cerberus, who was supposed to look after the cards. Realising what had happened, Cerberus declared that its Sakura's responsibility to collect back all the cards which she had scattered, and without hesitation, named her "CardCaptor". As a CardCaptor, it's her job to catch the Clow Cards and return them to their card form. She takes this respondibility very seriously, and does her best to capture the cards before they hurt anyone.|
