This tutorial is divided in five main sections. It is suggested that you start with the first, Setting Up Game, or at least with the second, Starting - The Ancient Age.
Important notes:
- Due to very well developed artificial intelligence, there is no way of making
your game exactly the same as this tutorial game - I will therefore try to maintain my
instructions as general as possible.
- There are many other ways (styles) to play this game besides the one you will learn in this tutorial. Note that in this tutorial game we will try to build the most advanced civilization and try to live peacefully with our neighbors as long as we don't become sufficiently advanced to destroy them without much trouble.
- In order to achieve that, we will be using at the beginning such government systems that will allow us to become the most advanced civilization - monarchy, republic... Some systems (communism) may never be used.
- This tutorial game will be played at medium difficulty level. Note that as difficulty level rises, some of the actions may need to be performed differently or at a different time (for example, temples at the Emperor level need to be constructed much earlier than those at Warlord level.
- This tutorial is meant to cover the basics of Civilization II. If you want to further improve your skill, go to Strategy Guide.
- Except for the first part (Setting Up Game), this tutorial is not meant to be read as a step by step instruction. It is advised that you read at least one chapter at a time as it covers many different topics that in your game could not occur at the same sequence than in this tutorial game.
- This tutorial game will conceive a Civilization II Score around 60 percent. If you already know how to get a score similar to this at Prince level, you can still check out the tutorial, but to further improve your score, check out Strategy Guide.
