Fintan  Murphy
Matthew Kam
was born in Kuching in 1981. He lived in Sibu for several years before moving to Kuala Lumpur. In 1992 his family moved to Melbourne, Australia, where he studied piano with Professor Max Cooke of Monash University. In 1996, he gained Diploma in Piano Performance, (A. Mus.A) and won second prize at the Melbourne Bernstein Piano Competition. Currently living in Kuala Lumpur, he continues piano with Loo Bang Hean and Akiko Nakamura. Recently sat for his International accaulareate Diploma examination from the International School of Kuala Lumpur, Matthew will be leaving for Melbourne University under a scholarship this mid-July.

Started learning piano and organ at age five; Matthew also plays flute in addition to the piano. He attended and gained a diploma for the Summer Program for Piano in Boston University Tanglewood Institute, Massachusetts, USA under Maria Clodes Jaguaribe in July 1999. Subsequently, he was given a partial scholarship to study music in Boston University.

Matthew was awarded the second prize for the National Piano Festival 2000 of Malaysia, the highest prize awarded for this inaugural event.

 

Wong Shuen Da started his music education at the age of 4. He obtained his Grade 8 piano with 145/150 and passed his Advance Certificate and AMEB Grade 6 with High Distinction. He has performed in many concerts, including the 1994 Asia Oceania Junior Original Concert, 1997 National Junior Original Concert held in Kuala Lumpur, 1995, 1999 International Junior Original Concert held in Tokyo, the 1998 Phillipines Centennial Junior Original Concert held in Manila, and many charity concerts in Malaysia. He also performed in the opening ceremony of the Bukit Jalil Stadium and in the APEC meeting, both in 1998.

Shuen Da was the thrid prize winner in the National Piano Competition 2000 in Perak. He also won an award for the "Best Performance of Malaysian Work for the Piano". He is now pursuing his Licientiate Certificate, namely the LRSM and the AMEB L-Mus.

 

GAN WUI MING born in August 1985, began his music education in the Yamaha Music School at the tender age of four. He is currently studying piano performance and composition under Professor Snezana Panovska and Mr. Ng Chong Lim respectively.

Wui Ming has been selected twice to perform his original compositions at the Yamaha Asia-Oceania Junior Original Concerts; first in Malaysia in 1994, and again in Singapore in 1997. He was a Finalist at the Malaysian National Piano Festival 2000 in Ipoh, Perak Darul Ridzuan; and a Diploma winner at the Fifth Vladimir Krainev's International Competition for Young Pianists 2000 in Kharkov, Ukraine.
