You know how many countries declare that they “do not negotiate with terroist.”

Not in the X-Men’s world.

Because they’ve never met Magneto.

Since this is suc a current ongoing storyline, I won’t talk too much about how the UN not only negotiated with the supreme terrorist but also acquiesced to certain demands by giving him a country. (Sounds crazy enough, like trying to quiet a crying baby by giving him a loaded gun to play with.)

It’s not only the UN and their fascinating Dr. Alda Huxley that made me love this particular issue. It was the rumble in the snow Magneto had with a few of the X-Men. Especially Wolverine, who remembered quite clearly the years of struggle he lived through after Magneto stripped him of his metallic skeleton and--almost--his humanity.

The rage was clear on Wolverine’s face, expertly drawn by Alan Davis. (I was never the greatest fan of Alan Davis, until his drawings and his composition here distracted me from even Nicieza’s script--and nothing usually distracts me from something Nicieza if writing. But take a look at Wolverine in every panel he’s in. No other face is drawn so well). Wolverine was not worried about UN peace deals or negotiations, he wanted Magneto’s blood. Everytime he sliced his claws at Magnus, you had to wonder what kind of demon was driving him. Until he explained it to Rogue.

“He ain’t walkin’ away from this one!”
