| Sonofagun Local Music is a not-for-profit branch of Sonofagun Productions.
For the past few years Sonofagun Local Music, has made it possible for
local up-and-coming music groups to showcase their talents at local venues,
gain exposure to fans and other musicians, and nourish their talent.
Sonofagun has hosted events not only for the pleasure of fans and musicians,
but for the benefit of the community as well. We were proud to host “Battle
of the Bands” in July 2001 to benefit the American Indian Assoc. of Greater
Kansas City, and in November a “Local Heroes” concert to benefit the Red
Cross chapter of Leavenworth, KS. We are dedicated to keeping our productions
drug and alcohol free and open to all ages, to the benefit of parents and
law enforcement.
These experiences have been fun for us, but for the groups we support
they have provided a chance to perform in a professional atmosphere, connect
with a fan base, gain exposure to marketing opportunities, and confidence
to pursue their goals in music. Some of the local bands we have worked
with include Opata, Plant, Soulless, Inphobic, Weldon, and Anteye Luci.
Bands of various genres, but all with the desire to perform for appreciative
fans. The band Opata performed their first live concert via Sonofagun Local
Music and has continued to perform in the Kansas City area. The band Weldon
produced its first CD since premiering at one of our productions. Inphobic
has “grown up” with Sonofagun, they performed live for the first time at
our first production, and have since played various venues in Kansas City
and twice at Sandstone Amphitheatre (Verizon Wireless). We further support
groups by linking their web sites to ours and other local entertainment
and music web sites. If a group does not have the means to create their
own web site, Sonofagun will create one for them.
Kansas City has been a great supporter of its regional talent, we hope
to further encourage that in the promotion of new, local groups. So far,
we have managed our productions thanks to volunteer staff, personal funding,
community support, and dedication to dreams. With this letter we are hoping
to broaden our support and expand our musical community. We hope you will
join the fun and be a sponsor or contributor.
Our goal is for Sonofagun Local Music to host two events a month, which
can not happen without community support. You can help us support local
music in a number of ways…. Donations of course are always welcome and
needed. Financial donations are re-invested for up-coming events to purchase
advertising, rent venues, stage equipment, and security. We would also
appreciate donated venues to perform in, theatrical lighting, portable
staging, volunteer staff, printed T-shirts, and donated printing for fliers
and banners. In return for your support, we would provide advertising space
for your company on event fliers and posters, banners and booth space at
events, and a link to our web site. Enclosed is a breakdown of items we
plan to offer our sponsors and contributors, as well as our breakdown of
production costs.
Please consider this opportunity to invest in our community’s growing
music culture. Look up our website at www.sonofagun.com or reach us by
