In the world of the internet there are unfortunately people who find it amusing to "hack" into your computer and screw you up as best they can .. The Dungeon, as well as the other chatrooms on ACN, has their fair share. This page lists a few programs to help you protect your machine from these type of attacks.

--Black Ice Defender & AtGuard (aka @Guard) & NeoTrace [Black Ice will tell you the type of attack, AtGuard is a firewall, will give you an IP addy, but does require some skill to configure initially, and NeoTrace is a program used to trace ip's, not really needed, but if you are being hit by the same ip numerous times you can trace it and found out the service provider to report to.]

You can buy Nortons Internet Security and Nortons Antivirus 2000 from Wal
Mart for $40 or Guard Dog from Mcafee for $30 both work just about as well
as Conseal Private Desktop.
If you're running chat programs like ICQ, Yahoo, MSN Messenger, etc. You should
be sure to hide your IP addresses in the configuration options.
Another good idea would be to get acquainted with the attacks you're
getting, investigate the attack to find out exactly what it is and what it
does to your computer.
If you do happen to get an IP address of your attacker you should report
it to YOUR internet service provider, including the IP address and the
type of attack as logged by the security program and the date and time
(including your time zone).
More to come later, but this should be enough to get you started!
