This next series of pictures is of some of our current pets. I don't have pictures of them all, but after seeing this, you'll have seen every cat that we have except for 2, Spooks and Lazarus (Cricket's the black cat with me in the older pages). This is in no particular order and most of the pictures are from right after the fire.
Yes, we have a cat named Big Guy, and if you see him in person, you'll understand why. He's absolutely huge and hey, he responds to it. He's laying on what used to be my bed in the basement, which was where most of the cats wound up.
I'm not sure where Boone got his name, but he responds to both that name and Pooka, which is what my older sister Lori calls him. In any case, he's probably the next smartest cat after Kisa. He's sitting in the little doorway that was the way for the cats to get to the basement from the living room when the dogs were in the kitchen. It no longer exists in its current form as the wall that was there was knocked down and will be a door. Boone likes belly rubs.
This is my cat, Kisa. You can't really tell by the picture, but she was covered in dirt and soot and was more grey than white. This was 3 days after the fire and the only time she'd come out was when I came by the house. She came up through a grate that was in the floor and wouldn't come up unless I opened it up. It was also the only time she would eat.
Now, before any comments are made, that's what my hair looks like without gel. Yes, it's frightening and no, I do not go out into public like that. Anyway, this picture's from a month ago when Kisa was laying next to me while I watched tv. My mom saw it and had to take a couple pics.
Yeah, she got me twice. This time, Kisa's fully aware of what's going on, so she posed for the camera.
This is Nermal, who's quite possibly the strangest, but funniest, cat that I've ever been around. He's so nice, so friendly, and yet so weird. This cat can jump straight up in the air 4 or 5 feet for no reason other than to spaz out. He's a really nice cat though. He tends to be everyone's favorite.
Remember those couple of entries I did a year or so ago where I wrote as Simba when he was this little cute kitten? Well, he's obviously been influenced by "The Exorcist" judging by the way he was spinning his head during this picture. Actually, he did it after I called out his name. He had been looking forward. He's a pretty crazy cat. All I can say is watch out for the claws. He will attack if you walk by him.
These are the birds we have, although the one that appears yellow croaked about a week after this picture was taken. They sing, screech, and manage to mimic dolphins as well. The fact that they survived the night of the fire is amazing. Overall, they don't bother me in the least.
This is the behemoth, Shade. He's our black lab and he's very energetic and very much into playing with anything that he can get a grip on. He's deflated over five different balls in the last month and is working on destroying his latest squeak toy, the elephant squeak. The fact it's survived two months is amazing since most don't make it through the first day. He's a good dog though. Loud, but friendly.
This was taken by my mom. Shade may not be the brightest, but he knows his name and he knows where it's coming from when you call for him. He's dopey, but he's my kind of dog.
Those are the animals of the house. Next, a look at some of the damage sustained from the fire.
