Paros is also a very popular island, and a haven for backpackers, and a hub for Aegean ferries so it can be quite crowded. Paros is a six hour ferry ride from Athens (Piraeus) port and in summer is connected to all the neighbouring islands. I have been "on" Paros many times due to its being a hub for the ferries. I have sat on the curb at the port many many times, awaiting the connecting ferry to my next destination.

Paros does have a wonderful nightlife though and is fun to explore on moped.

The larger beach on Paros is actually a boat ride across from the city of Parikia, the centre of the island. It is a calm, clean and sandy beach, where most backpackers tend to gravitate to.

There are literally hundreds of little beaches to be discovered throughout the island. Do rent a moped so that you can explore the true beauty of the island. Here, a photo of a beach called "Kolimbithras" which is a clothing optional beach.

The first time I went to Paros, I was young, and full of energy to party til the wee hours of the night. Some snapshots of this trip will give you some sense of just how much fun one can have here !

And all good things must come to an end with a long ferry ride home...
