"A Kate Exclusive"
Our dear friends Alan, Rob, Mike, and Dan from Another Man Down are again in need of your help!
Hey Everyone,
I have not been out of touch intentionally-my computer is under the
weather (for the last 2 months....really it has). I hope to have it
back in my hands in a few weeks. In the meanwhile I'm writing to you
from a friend's computer because I need a favor. I want to show my
friends in a band called Another Man Down that we have the best fans any
band could ever want. There is a contest going on here in Atlatnta with
a radio station called 99x. Another Man Down is one of ten bands
competing to play a show with Collective Soul and Lenny Kravitz. The
band that gets the most votes is going to play this very big show called
Chinese New Year. A lot of you have seen Another Man Down open for us
but the rest of you are just going to have to take my word for it. I
need you to go to the following link at http://www.99x.com and vote for
Another Man Down. Kate, make sure you get this up on your website soon
because the votes have to be in by this Sunday (January 31st). Thank
you guys so much.
I also wanted to apologize for not telling you all that we were in
Vanity Fair Magazine last month (jan) and that we were on Entertainment
Tonight 3 weeks ago as well. Being the great fans that you are, I know
a lot of you found out about it anyway. I do however, hope to have
some more very good news for you in the future.
Good Night and God Bless,
Evan
**Alright Guys, You Heard Him! Go Vote NOW! AMD Is A Really Great Band, They Deserve This!**
A couple of local mugs are gracing the January issue of Vanity Fair. Atlanta rockers Evan and Jaron Lowenstein are included in the magazine's "String Fever" portfolio, shot by celebrity lensman Bruce Weber (including the photo above).
The Lowensteins, 24, are featured along with Ben Taylor, the budding 21-year-old singing/songwriting spawn of James Taylor and Carly Simon, guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd, 21, and 18-year-old blues boy Jonny Lang.
"We did the photo shoot up at Bruce Weber's house in the Adirondacks," Jaron told us Tuesday from Los Angeles, where the twin brothers are gigging this week. Apparently, Weber is a perfectionist. The brothers posed for the shutterbug for 15 hours and Weber had a camera trained on them from the moment they arrived until they left the next day.
And attending Evan and Jaron's acoustic La-La Land gigs so far this week: "NYPD Blue" star Rick Schroder, former "Melrose Place" actress Daphne Zuniga and "Felicity" star Scott Speedman.
wow do i feel relieved! jaron and i have been spending our little
vacation/time off between LA and atlanta having quite a bit of fun. right
now in fact, he's in LA and i'm in atlanta. anyway i just wanted to let
everyone know that we are alive and very well and have a couple of suprises
up our sleves (i think we're pretty good about our suprises...you know us by
now, they won't be things like "hey, we've got new guitars") they will be
good suprises and ones that will keep you proud of us!

...a message from evan...
well it's official....as of march 19, 1999 we are now on columbia records (home to such legends as bob dylan, bruce springsteen,
billy joel, etc.). we are very excited to be going into the studio in the coming months to make a completely new record which will
hopefully be out as early as late summer. the new songs are so great....i do believe that you will all agree.
jaron and i just got back this past week from cuba. we were part of a wonderful experience called "music bridges" in which 40 or
so american and british artists were selected to go to cuba and write songs with cuban musicians. if i told you the other musicians
who went you probably wouldn't believe me....well for starters, the cuban musicians were amongst the best in the world...no joke, i
mean incredible. form our group we had: mick fleetwood, bonnie raitt, burt bachrach (who was literally across the hall), gladys
knight, peter frampton, andy summers and stewart copeland from the police, peter buck (REM), indigo girls, lisa loeb, joan
osbourne, duncan sheik, and many others...oh, how could we forget....jimmy buffett made an appearance towards the end of the
trip as well. as i was saying, it was quite an amazing group that jaron and i were extremely flattered to be a part of.
they put all of our names in one hat and all the cubans in another hat. they then picked 2 names from each hat, and that became a
songwriting team. jaron and emily sailers (indigo girls) worked on a song together (they were picked together in the second lottery).
i worked with duncan sheik, a girl named ruth merry (she won a major songwriting contest to get there) and woody harrelson (oops,
did i forget to mention that woody was there). woody was an absolute blast. we had such a great time with him....he was so woody.
he was not a let down at all. one night while we were down there "the people vs larry flint" came on with spanish overdubbed and
we were teasing woody about how well he spoke spanish in the movie and how poorly he spoke in real life. well anyway, the song
that we ended up writing is pretty darn good. it won't be on our record, due to complications with the US embargo (the US gov't
has a problem with us recoding any songs in the US that were written in cuba as part of this trip) but i guarantee you'll hear us play it
live.
well, i hope everyone is doing well and i look forward to seeing you all out on the road. be well,
