This page has been designed
to debunk old myths about sharks, and hopefully educate visitors about our
oceans oldest predator. I will be adding my own experiences with sharks,
along with pics, and I will give a description of different sharks found
in our various waters. If there are any comments or suggestions, my guestbook is at the very bottom of this page, or you can e-mail me at sharky1916@yahoo.com. Enjoy!
Lamniformes, or mackerel sharks, make up seven families and 15 or 16 species of shark. They are
found worldwide, except in the coldest seas. They range from inter tidal
to depths of more than four thousand feet (1200 M), and from the surf line
to the great ocean basins. These ovoviviparous sharks share with others
a form of uterine cannibalism: before birth, embryo sharks feed on younger
siblings and fertilized eggs.
These sharks dominate
the world's shark fauna. Eight families contain 215 species. They are widespread,
living in cold to tropical seas, as well as fresh water. Most of the potentially
dangerous species occur in this group.
There are seven families
and 37 species in this group of sharks. They are sharks of warm temperate
or tropical waters in shallow to moderate depths. They are found largely
in the tropics of the western Pacific and the Indian oceans
These stories are NOT going to be just gruesome coverage of shark attack, i am trying to get away from that with this page, so what i have done instead, is compile a list of attacks that have some sort of historical significance...Please remember that someone died in these cases, in some cases, many died.
