ST. Antony's Association is located in El-Omranya El-Gharbia which is poor
neighborhood. The number of the handicapped in this place reaches 5000
according to the last statistics of the general institute of
mobilication and census for the year 1996.
This enormous number is due to several
causes, some of them are:

Ignorance: which leads to the spreading of marriage between relatives .
this is agenetic factor that causes disability.
·
Poverty
: which leads to the deterioration of sanitary and medical care of the
mother during pregnancy and delivery , after delivery and during the
first few days of the baby's life. Poverty is a cause of malnutrition of
the mother during pregnancy or malnutrition of the infant which leads to
several health problems.
·
pollution: which leads to the spreading of many diseases and infections
not only among children but also among adults.
