Air BC will resume the YVR-DEN on April 29 with a BAe-146 routing YVR-DEN-YWG. Effective October 19, 2001, Air Canada will commence four times weekly non-stop service between Vancouver and New Delhi. The seasonal service, flight AC061 leaves Vancouver at 1130 Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and arrives in New Delhi at 1545 the next day. From New Delhi, AC060 leaves at 1800 Thursday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday and arrives in Vancouver at 1915 the same day. The service will be operated October through April with Airbus A340. Air Canada has also cancelled its short-lived service from YVR-GEG. Air Canada Regional will increased service for the busy summer season between Vancouver and Prince Rupert. Service will increase to three daily jet flights (except Saturday) beginning May 21, 2001. The new flight will depart Vancouver at 12:00 p.m. arriving in Prince Rupert at 1:30 p.m. The return flight departs Prince Rupert at 2:00 p.m., arriving into Vancouver at 3:25 p.m. The new flight will be operated on Fokker F28 jet aircraft. The aquisition frenzy continues as Canada 3000 has announced plans to buy the struggling Canjet operation for $7 million in Canada 3000 stock. HawkAir has started YVR-Prince Rupert flights. They operate 2x/week on a Tuesday and Saturday using their Dash-8. The last Qantas flight will be Saturday, May 19, 2001 Skywest will add a second daily flight to SLC from YVR at 6:15 and 10:16. But of course that just makes up for the cancellation of the YVR-PDX service. 16 million passengers passed through YVR in 2000. Though international traffic increase by more than 200,000 YVR dropped to third spot, once again behind San Francisco. Balair CTA's schedule for the summer of 2001 is . June 17 - Sep. 16, BB182 arrives every Sunday at 4:35pm. Aircraft utilizing the Boeing B763. Horizon Air announced that starting Feb. 18, the DH8-Q400 will operate on selected flights from Seattle to Vancouver. KLM will probably no longer be providing its own service to YVR. It looks as though Martinair will be conducting all of the service to YVR, including the charters. So, we will probably see two Martinair B763's in a couple days week Philippine Airlines will return to Vancouver beginning Apr 3rd. The routing is MNL-YVR-SFO-YVR-MNL utilizing an Airbus A340. Air Canada has dropped the YVR-YHZ route until the summer. Also, AC's own service from YVR to DEN will be dropped at the end of the month, only to be started up by an Air BC BAe-146 for the summer schedule. Charter airline company Canada 3000 Inc.has offered C$84 million to buy Royal Aviation and create an airline with strength in serving domestic and international routes. The enhanced organization will have a fleet of 34 aircraft, with a further 10 aircraft on order. The current 30 domestic city pairs served by the combined airline is expected to grow to over 40 domestic city pairs by this summer. The Roots Air schedule is finally available. The United Airlines/US Airways merger site has on its new services page a prospective route map and yes Vancouver is on it. WestJet Airlines today announced that it will commence permanent service to Comox, British Columbia on March 3, 2001.This service will operate five days per week non-stop between Calgary and Comox. Effective March 3, 2001: * An increase from four to five daily non-stop flights from Edmonton to Vancouver and from three to four daily non-stop flights from Vancouver to Edmonton * An increase from four to five daily non-stop flights between Calgary and Abbotsford * An additional Saturday non-stop flight between Calgary and Victoria Effective March 15, 2001: * An increase from three to four daily non-stop flights from Kelowna to Edmonton * An increase from two to three daily non-stop flights from Kelowna to Calgary and from three to four daily non-stop flights from Calgary to Kelowna * An increase from four to five daily non-stop flights from Vancouver to Kelowna |
