Air China has increased service into Vancouver with the commencing of a third weekly flight on Wednesdays to Beijing/Shanghi.
Canadian Airlines has ceased service from YVR-Bangkok via Hong Kong.
Tower Air will be conducting some charters on behalf on immigration Canada in July.
Confirmed charters for the summer of 2000 include
Mexicana, Martinair, Allegro Air, Miami Air, and American Trans Air
With a planned offshoot of
SkyService, a new Canadian airline targetting biz-pax is being planned with service to Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Halifax, with possible start-up service as well to some US cities. First flights are skedded for this November with A320s and A330s. The new airline will be called ROOTSAIR.
Capital City Air
has acquired at least 3 ex-Northwest Airlink J31's. They actually plan to serve virtually every major city in at least Alberta and B.C. Apparently Capital City might have something to do with feeding into Canada 3000.

Air Canada and Delta Air Lines (have signed a Letter of Intent that provides for codesharing in North America and expansion of services between each other's hubs. Under the proposed agreement, Air Canada and Delta would codeshare on each other's transborder flights between Canadian gateway cities and Delta's U.S. hubs in Atlanta, Cincinnati, Dallas/Ft. Worth and Salt Lake City, as well as on each other's selected domestic flights. In addition, the arrangement will allow for the introduction of new services between each carrier's North American hubs with the winter schedule 2000-2001.

April 2000
British Midland Airways has applied for scheduled route authority from London(LHR)to Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal, using A330-200 aircraft.
Canada 3000 Holidays (C3H) has a formed partnership with Pacific Coastal Airlines, offering flights to Vancouver International Airport from Victoria,Comox, Campbell River, Nanaimo, Port Hardy and Powell River. Canada 3000 Airlines (Toronto) has ordered four new 142-seat Airbus A319-100s for domestic expansion.
Qantas will start on Monday, July 3rd and will operate 4 times a week, MON/TUE/THU/SAT.

Canadian Airlines will leave the Oneworld Alliance on June 1st, 2000
Mandarin Airlines will be discontinuing service to Vancouver effective March 25th and will be replaced by China Airlines using 747-400s. Effective April 2nd, the Eva Air flights to Vancouver will be code-shared with both Air Canada and Canadian Airlines. CAIL will continue to operate their own daily 747-400 on the route.
Martinair will once again have its own service to Vancouver this summer. Martinair will have B767 service to Amsterdam on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Trans World has two scheduled services to Vancouver for the summer 2000. One of the services remain year-round

CanJet, the discount air carrier, plans to expand its operations as far west as Vancouver once it sets up in Hamilton in May.  Within two years the company aims to be operating up to 20 jets and it may add eight turboprop planes it already owns to the fleet.  CanJet  intends to begin operating in May, flying from Hamilton to such eastern Canadian cities as Ottawa and Montreal, and to the Maritimes. Future destinations include Thunder Bay, Ont., Winnipeg and possibly Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver. Vancouver is attractive because IMP already has a maintenance base there.  There may also be some transborder flying to the United States.
The
OneWorld Alliance will create a management unit in Vancouver.
Another low-cost airline is eyeing Canada.
American Trans Air, the largest U.S. charter company, received approval Friday from the U.S. DOT to fly cross-border scheduled service. 
Japan Airlines has formalized an agreement with Cuba's government tourist agency, Cubanacan, to operate a series of charter flights from Osaka to Havana in August with a technical stop at Vancouver, using 350-passenger Boeing 747s. JAL is ready to upgrade it to regular scheduled service depending on future demand.
Air Canada, Canadian Airlines and their regional airlines AirBC, Air Ontario, Air Nova, and Canadian Regional Airlines announced today an integrated Summer 2000 schedule. In Western Canada, AirBC and Canadian Regional Airlines will offer better and expanded service including the launch of new transborder service between Vancouver and Spokane, WA.
The integrated schedule also positions the regional airlines for longer-term growth opportunities, improved profitability and shareholder value. Unprofitable, duplicate flights on some domestic routes will be reduced and aircraft redeployed onto new or expanded routes such as Vancouver to Spokane.
On April 3, 2000, non-stop flights from Vancouver to Spokane, WA will be launched twice daily with AirBC Dash 8 service.Air Canada announced on January 20, 2000, the merger of its regional connector airlines, AirBC, Air Ontario and Air Nova, into a single regional carrier. Should the sale of Canadian Regional Airlines not be successful pursuant to the undertakings given by the Competition Bureau, Canadian Regional Airlines will be integrated into the consolidated regional airline following a successful financial restructuring of Canadian Airlines.
Key highlights of the Summer 2000 schedule are as follows:
Regina-Vancouver:Additional frequency for a total of two daily flights, with all F28 jet
Saskatoon-Vancouver:Additional frequency for a total of two daily flights, with all F28 jet
Vancouver-Kelowna:Increased F28 jet service four times out of eight daily flights.
Vancouver-Smithers:All F28 jet, twice daily.
Vancouver-Nanaimo:All Dash 8 service, seven times daily.
Vancouver-Campbell River: All Dash 8 service, five times daily.
Vancouver-Comox:Dash 8 service, three times out of four daily flights.
Vancouver-Seattle: Additional frequency for a total of nine daily flights.
Vancouver-Portland:Additional frequency for a total of six daily flights.
Vancouver-Spokane:Launch of new twice daily Dash 8

Air Canada/Canadian Airlines consolidated summer highlights:
HALIFAX-VANCOUVER: New service with 1 daily round trip starting June 5.
TORONTO-VANCOUVER: Hourly service for a total of 17 daily westbound trips and 16 eastbound
VANCOUVER-REGINA: Increases to 2 daily round trips from 1.
VANCOUVER-SASKATOON:Increases to 2 daily round trips from 1.
VANCOUVER-HONG KONG: Double daily service starting May 1, 2000.
VANCOUVER-MEXICO CITY: New daily service starting June 5, 2000.
VANCOUVER-SEOUL: 2 additional weekly round trips starting May 1, 2000, increasing to daily service July 1,2000.
VANCOUVER-TOKYO: Daily service with B747-400 aircraft.
VANCOUVER-DENVER: New service with 1 daily round trip starting June 5, 2000
VANCOUVER-WASHINGTON New service with 1 daily round trip starting(DULLES): June 5, 2000
Horizon Air plans to utilizeits new DHC-8-400's by mid-2001 on its YVR-SEA/PDX service. YVR may also see the CRJ-700 on some new services.
WestJet Airlines has reached an agreement with Boeing for the purchase 20 new 737-600 or 737-700 series, CFM56-powered aircraft, on firm basis, with an option to acquire an additional 30 aircraft prior to 2008.
January 2000
Canada 3000 will comence service to Abbotsford for the summerof 2000. The service will operate Jun 29th - Sept 14th A320

Canada 3000 announced that they intend to apply to Transport Canada for international route licenses for the following;
a)..Toronto-Vancouver-Sydney/Brisbane Australia.
b)..any point in Canada to London/Manchester/ Birmingham/Glasgow in the UK.
c)..Toronto-Calgary-Vancouver to Nagoya Japan.
d)..Toronto-Vancouver-Manila in the Philippines.
e)..Toronto-Vancouver-Delhi India.
Harlequin Air will not be returning to Canada in the summer of 2000 as its parent company Japan Air Systems plans to retire its two DC-10's after it completes service to Hawaii.
Air Canada announced it will proceed immediately with the consolidation of its regional airline subsidiaries AirBC, Air Ontario and Air Nova
