Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ
(LCMC)
-
We are free in Christ - As St. Paul so eloquently states
in Romans 6, Christians find true freedom by being bound to servanthood to
Christ Jesus. In Christ we find the freedom to live as God intends us to
live - in faith and obedience to the Word of God as proclaimed in the Holy
Scriptures.
-
We are accountable to one another - As an association of
local congregations, we rely on the faithfulness and good will of each
congregation to live and serve in a manner that honors God and serves the
proclamation of the Good News of Christ. Congregations are allowed wide
latitude in the ordering of their faith life, but voluntarily submit to
being held accountable by all the congregations of the association to assure a
harmonious fellowship.
-
We are rooted and grounded in the Holy Scriptures and the
Lutheran Confessions - Our association is firmly committed to
accepting the normative authority of the Bible. We reject the notion that
science, personal experience, tradition, or other human endeavors have equal
footing with the Bible. The Bible is for us the final authority in matters
of faith and practice. As a Christian congregation in the Lutheran tradition, we
recognize the Lutheran Confessions as our primary source for interpreting the
Bible and continue to utilize it regularly in our teaching and decision making.
-
We work together to fulfill Christ's Great Commission to go
and make disciples of all nations - our primary reason for organizing as
believing communities is to facilitate the proclamation of the Gospel of Christ
throughout the world and to provide the means for believers to become disciples
- followers - of our Risen Lord.
Our association is very lean, without much in the way of
national staff, bishops, or regional organizations. This is intentional as
we strive to place all our resources in the hands of our missionaries - the
people of our congregations who everyday encounter people in need of a
relationship with Jesus Christ. Come and join us in this exciting journey
of faith and hope with our Savior and Lord.
