Meet Pastor Gibbs

Pastor Mark Dale Gibbs is a recent addition to the staff at St. Michael, accepting the call to serve as pastor in December, 2002.  Pastor Gibbs was born in Muncie, Indiana, and raised in the small town of Parker City, six miles east of Muncie. After graduating from high school in 1978, Pastor Gibbs attended Purdue University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1983.  While at Purdue, he met Julia Anne Sieg and they were married in 1982.  Pastor Gibbs worked as an engineer in the heating and cooling industry for eight years.

In 1991, Pastor Gibbs discerned a call to ordained ministry and entered the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.  After graduating in January, 1995, he accepted a call as Associate Pastor to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lafayette, Indiana, where his major responsibilities were working with youth, education, and family programs.  In June of 1999, Pastor Gibbs accepted a new call as Pastor to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Vickery, Ohio.

Pastor Gibbs and his wife Julia are the proud parents of two children, Maureen (born 1989) and Jacob (born 1998).  Pastor Gibbs enjoys reading, jogging, and biking, and runs 5K roadraces for fun in the summertime.  Julia is a stay-at-home mom at the moment, a vocation she finds very rewarding and time-consuming.  Maureen attends Whiteford Schools and loves to swim, jog, shop, and read.  Jacob is enrolled in the Whiteford Pre-School and loves to wrestle with dad and play with his electric train.  As a family the Gibbs enjoy attending church fellowships together and camping in the summer.

Pastor Gibbs has served at St. Michael since December, 2002.
