Quake 3 Rally

Introduction
------------

Quake 3 Rally (Q3R) is a total conversion for Quake 3 Arena. Q3R uses the Quake 3 Arena engine to place the player behind the wheel of a car. Q3R bases its gameplay and feel on the original Quake Rally for Quake by Impact Development. Q3R expands on the original giving it more game modes, a realistic physics engine, and improved visuals and features now achievable using the Quake 3 Arena engine. Q3R includes team and non-team based Racing, Racing Deathmatch and Deathmatch game modes. Q3R will also include Demolition Derby and Capture the Flag modes. The final version of Q3R will include all new weapons and effects, new powerups, rearfire weapons and deathmatch and racing bots.

I joined the Quake 3 Rally project in June of 2000 as a second programmer. By far one of my biggest projects, I was responsible for the user interface and gameplay programming as well as designing the bots. When the main programmer left the team at the end of 2000 I took over the physics programming and designed a whole new physics system for Q3R. Currently I am preparing a developer kit version of Q3R so other people in the Quake community can begin making models and maps for Q3R. The developer kit will also allow people to see what kind of physics they can expect once we release the first version of Q3R.
