Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne
Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne
won’t be any regular expansion pack. While most expansion packs just include a
few new units, some single scenarios and about 10 hours of gameplay,
Blizzard’s expansion to Warcraft III will have a lot more.
Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne will
have a 1 new hero and 2 new units for each race. There will be 40 hours gameplay
covered over 30 missions continuing the story from Reign of Chaos. Each race
will also get the option of building a shop from which you can buy items common
to all the races and items designed specially for that race. There will also be
new neutral buildings and 5 mercenary heroes.
The story of the main campaign will
be of Arthas and Illidan of the Night Elves and the Undead trying to reach the
Frozen Throne before the other to claim the power of the Frozen Throne. While
the Night Elves and the Undead are directly connected to the storyline, the
Humans are connected through the Blood Elves. These are the remaining forces of
the High Elves after the Undead invaded them in the original Warcraft III. They
get involved because of the Blood Mage Kael, who has sworn to protect the Blood
Elves at all costs.
Unfortunately for all the Orc fans,
the Orc won’t be involved in the main campaign. But don’t fear, they’ll be
the main focus of the smaller second campaign. This campaign will contain
missions that are based more on RPG than on RTS and will follow Thrall on his
mission to get the Orcs settled down in Azeroth. The second campaign will also
show players what they can do with the new features of the Campaign Editor.
Users will now be able to structure campaigns so that maps can be directly
linked to one another. You can set triggers so that an event in 1 map will
change something in another map and do lots more with the new Campaign Editor.
Now let’s look into the new
units and buildings of each of the new races.
