Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne
The new Undead Hero is THE CRYPT LORD. The Crypt Lord, a giant Beetle, is the leader of the Crypt Fiends. He was designed to be the tank-type hero that the Undead didn’t have. Unlike his race, he’s a melee attacker, has lots of HP and no ranged attacks. Impale is one of his abilities. Being a Beetle, he has horns and he shoots them out at a single enemy, pulls that enemy in and throws him into the air. Then he impales them on one of his sharp limbs, leaving the enemy damaged and stunned for a few seconds. The Crypt Lord’s Thorny Shield ability increases his armor and anyone attacking him takes a small amount of damage themselves. Carrion Scarabs is the Crypt Lord’s 3rd ability. This makes scarab beetles to come of the corpse of any dead unit. As the Hero grows in level, the scarab beetles will grow more powerful and can be made simultaneously. The scarabs can burrow underground which will let them regenerate their Hit Points faster and let them serve as scouts. The beetles will stay until they’re killed. Locust Swarm, the Crypt Lord’s ultimate spell, will make a swarm of locusts fly out of the Hero’s carapace and attack any nearby enemies. Any damage that they do transfers health to the Crypt Lord. The locusts move with the Crypt Lord so nearby enemies will have a hard time escaping. The 2 new regular units are actually different forms of the same unit. The OBSIDIAN STATUE is a mechanical unit that can be built at the slaughterhouse. It was designed to be a support unit. It can be used to heal nearby units and to give support to nearby spell casters by giving them mana. THE BLACK SPHYNX is an evolved version of the Obsidian Statue. When you choose it, the Obsidian Statue will begin morphing and soon you’ll have a Black Sphinx. It’s a flying anti-caster unit. It’s Devour Magic ability, dispels all nearby spells and deals damage to the casters. The damage done is transferred to the Sphinx in health and mana so it’s a very useful ability. This unit’s other ability, Orb of Death, is an auto-cast spell and causes all attacks to get stronger. Other than the new units, the Undead also have an upgrade for the Necromancer. This allows the Necromancer to raise a skeletal mage and a skeletal warrior instead of 2 skeletal warriors. The new Undead shop is the Tomb of Relics. One of the items you can buy there is the Sacrificial Skull which will create blight on any are of the map. This means you can build an expansion without haunting a gold mine first. Another item is the Monster Lure. When you set the Monster Lure down in the ground, it’ll draw creeps from other places on the map so you can ambush them or take down their defenseless settlements. You can also buy an Orb of Corruption which adds additional damage and a ranged attack to any hero and reduces the enemy’s armor for 5 seconds.
