Nizwa
This city was the capital of Oman in  the 6th and 7th centuries. Today it  remains one of the most popular tourist attractions with its historical buildings and imposing fort. Nizwa  fort is one of Oman’s largest and  oldest forts and is surrounded by gardens, and a souq, with carved wooden doors opening to courtyards and shops.  This is a thriving, bustling place, particularly on  Friday morning when the livestock market takes place.
Umm Assamim (The Mother of all Poisons):
A weird environment where sand and salts combine to form strange  hexagons in the Sabca. When wet, this can become so soft that it will suck a vehicle under and leave no trace.  Seldom visited, it is an example of the great variety of  physical environments in Oman, which range from mountains, endless gravel plain, spectacular coastline and sand dune desert.

 Bahla
This village is one of the oldest in Oman and is surrounded by a 12-km wall. It also contains a historic fort with 15 gates and 132 watchtowers. It’s listed by UNESCO as a world heritage site.

 Jabel Al Akhdar
The magnificent green mountain  with fruit and vegetables growing on   lush terraces. Winter temperatures   here are freezing, but the summer is   wonderfully cool.   The highest peak in Oman is jebel  Shams which stands more than  3,000 meters high. The Hijra  mountains form a barrier between  the narrow northern coastal strip  and the sparsely populated desert interior of the country.
