Captain's log, stardate 27 November 1999 point 2: Nepal.
Here's the news from the first few weeks of 'Part 2'.
Kerry and I arrived in Nepal via Delhi International Airport, where we
got charged to sit in the waiting room to wait for our connecting flight.
Bloody cheek! We arrived into Kathmandu at about 11pm and got into a
taxi with the first bloke who offered to take us into town (not my usual
style I'd like to add). After revealing that we had just come from the UK
and were away for 8 months our taxi driver took a 'short cut' to the city
center. I thought that we were about to be robbed, but it turned out
to be a genuine short cut. We got taken to his friends hotel
(as expected) and spent a couple of days looking aroung the Thamel area
of Kathmandu, after meeting up with an OTC mate who came from Bangkok.
From Pokhara we went to the Royal Chitwan National Park where we went
elephant riding, jungle walking and canoeing. We saw a couple of rhinos
and a couple of crocodiles (different to Africa rhino and crocs).
We have just arrived back in Kathmandu today and will be sightseeing the
Kathmandu Valley area for a while.
Take care, Mike.
