Mike's second African installment came in on September 10th '99.
I'm now in Harare. Since I left Dar-es-Salaam I've spent a week in Malawi,
relaxing on the shores of Lake Malawi and travelled through Mozambique to
get to Zimbabwe. I will be spending about two weeks in Zimbabwe, including
four days at Vic Falls and three days on a house boat on Lake Kariba.
Well, the server at this end has just gone down so I can't send. I
might as well tell you a bit more about what I've been up to. The main Lake
Malawi resort that we stayed in was Kande Beach. It was really nice. There
were no showers at the campsite, everyone just washed and shaved in the lake,
which was bizzare. It was like a sea, but without the horble salty taste.
After that we went to the Zomba plateau, and went to the market to buy
clothes for a bad taste party that were're going to have tomorrow night. We drew
names out of a hat (of the other people on the truck) and had to buy clothes
for them. There was so much choice (dirt cheap too). I dread to think
what someone has got me. I'll be back on email in a few days time and let
you know how it went. On the way through Mozambique we stopped for a piss
(our only stop) and we threw rocks in the bush to see if we could set off any
of the millions of landmines that are said to be unexploded!
More news soon.
