Mike's World! Party time! Excellent!
Mike does Africa

Part : 1  2  3  4  5  6
Part 2: Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe

Mike's second African installment came in on September 10th '99.

I'm now in Harare. Since I left Dar-es-Salaam I've spent a week in Malawi, relaxing on the shores of Lake Malawi and travelled through Mozambique to get to Zimbabwe. I will be spending about two weeks in Zimbabwe, including four days at Vic Falls and three days on a house boat on Lake Kariba.

Well, the server at this end has just gone down so I can't send. I might as well tell you a bit more about what I've been up to. The main Lake Malawi resort that we stayed in was Kande Beach. It was really nice. There were no showers at the campsite, everyone just washed and shaved in the lake, which was bizzare. It was like a sea, but without the horble salty taste. After that we went to the Zomba plateau, and went to the market to buy clothes for a bad taste party that were're going to have tomorrow night. We drew names out of a hat (of the other people on the truck) and had to buy clothes for them. There was so much choice (dirt cheap too). I dread to think what someone has got me. I'll be back on email in a few days time and let you know how it went. On the way through Mozambique we stopped for a piss (our only stop) and we threw rocks in the bush to see if we could set off any of the millions of landmines that are said to be unexploded!

More news soon.

Mike.

...and another from Zimbabwe on September 21st

Just a bit of an up date. Tonight I go to Victoria Falls on the overnight train from Bulawayo. The activities I've been up to are relaxing on Lake Malawi beeches; walking in the hills around Zomba, Malawi; relaxing and cross-dressing on a house boat on Lake Kariba, Zim (some things never change); been envolved in strike riots in Harare, Zim; walking with lions (stroking and beening mauled by) and horse riding at Gweru, Zim; seen the ruins at Great Zimbabwe; game viewing and learning about acient cultures at Rhodes-Matopas National Park, Zim.
I hope those of you who read this are jealous! If you want a postcard email me your address.

Mike.
