Episode 5 - The Ultimate Betrayal

After last round's tribal councils, the Brasa tribe had voted out Felipe, sticking to tribal lines. Meanwhile, on the Istapp tribe, the previously voted out Maria acted as a swing vote, and ended up shockingly causing Amber to be voted out. This left Marion, Idun's ex-leader, somewhat shocked, as she had expected Jose to be leaving. Of course, as the delayed departure twist continues, Amber and Felipe were instructed to return to camp with their tribes to spend another round in the game.

As the Istapp tribe returned to camp, Marion continued to complain about how Amber had been voted out, saying “Jose should have been the one to leave tonight,”. Jose and Megs, who had also voted for Amber, managed to hide their feelings of discontent towards Marion, and the day peacefully ended for the tribe members.

Meanwhile, on the immune tribe Vattna, Holly and Jamie continued to bond with each other further. In a private conversation with each other, the two confessed that despite having agreed to a final 3 pact with Marion, they would rather see each other win than Marion. At this point, Holly agreed to an official final 2 pact with Jamie, even though she had previously stated she was planning to keep her top-secret final 2 pact with Marion! Was a change taking place in Holly's strategy?

Perhaps there was, but another change was about to occur! The next day, the three tribes, as well as Felipe and Amber, were brought together for the day's challenge. However, instead of a challenge, Cat, the host, announced that the three tribes would finally be merging into one, yet another twist in the game! The new tribe would be named Loki, a trickster and backstabber in Norse Mythology. Their new color would be purple.

Instantly, the 12 players still in the game (including the two voted out) began to celebrate, as the various tribes got to meet each other. There were many reunions, with old friends got to see each other once again. Not long after the excitement had settled down, Marion gathered together her ex-Idun tribemates together to confirm their agreement to stick together as a tribe and plan a strategy.

In this meeting, Marion explained how she felt the game stood: Apparently, she had recently caught Felipe in "a lie", and she now doubted trust in him. Therefore, she suspected that he would vote with the ex-Freyans if it came down to tribes. In addition, she was somewhat worried about Jose, as she had voted for him at the last tribal council, as opposed to Amber. Therefore, Marion decided to enact a plan to try and convince somebody on Freya to vote for Valerie. The reasoning for voting Valerie was said to be because she had 3 previous votes, which would break any ties. However, when Aurora had come to Idun's tribe in Round 2 of the game, she had befriended Marion, and also mentioned her thoughts on Valerie and that she would want revenge against her. It was these reasons that Marion decided to push a vote towards Valerie.

It also just so happened that Steven had devised a plot of his own. In order to gain an upper-hand against the ex-Iduns, Steven decided to spread false rumors that he was willing to vote out Kelley. When Marion heard of this, she attempted to convince him to vote for Kelley, saying that everyone else would too. Steven and Marion both agreed to do so, although in reality Steven planned to vote for an ex-Idun tribe member, while Marion planned to vote for Valerie and have the vote be 6 for Valerie, 5 for an Idun player, and 1 for Kelley.

Meanwhile, as Freya reunited, things did not go as smoothly. Jon and Valerie had a small conversation that died quickly. Later, in confessional, Jon said of Valerie, "I just can't carry out a conversation with the damn girl! I mean, I could try and try and try, but the effort would just go to waste...it's really just become to the point where it's almost an annoyance. I find myself wanting to vote her off more and more with each day."

Not long after their reunion, it was already time for the immunity challenge. Jamie was already immune from the previous round, and therefore would only compete for a backup immunity. In the challenge, players were instructed to try and "shoot moose" on a shooting range, hidden in various places. Whoever shot the most moose would win the challenge. What was instructed in the challenge also was that there would be "various twists" to the challenge.

What contestants did not expect is that a ferret-like moose would appear on the shooting range. When numerous players shot at this creature, they were all instantly expelled from the challenge. This frustrated some, but particularly upset Megs, who began to rant in the chat over the problem and the host's ignoring of her when she first addressed it. Eventually, her and the host talked and the issues were settled, but it left a lasting impression on Megs.

In the end, it came down to Charles and Steven for the challenge. It was then that another false-moose appeared, and Charles shot at it first. Therefore, by disqualification, Steven won the immunity, being the second immune along with Jamie that night.

As the groups prepared for Tribal Council, Felipe heard word of Marion saying that she had "caught him in a lie". Confused by what she meant and feeling betrayed, Felipe began to contemplate if he should use his delayed-departure vote to vote with his fellow ex-Iduns who appeared to have turned against him, or with the ex-Freyans who had voted him out last round. This allowed the possibility of a swing vote, which would allow a vote of 6-6.

However, what NOBODY had considered at the time was Holly. Although she was an ex-Idun, Holly recently had felt that Marion had been too much trouble. In Holly's eyes, Marion had been pushing the ex-Iduns around far too much, and being way too manipulative and plotting. Holly said in confessional of Marion, "Marion has done a lot of things in this game that I just do not agree with, and has put herself in big danger. I'm sure she would put me in danger without even realizing it, and I'm not going to take that chance." Holly began to secretly talk with the ex-Freyans, and coordinate with their plans to vote out Marion.

It then came time for Tribal Council, the first as Loki. Many names had been suggested on the chopping block, but who would it end up being? Kelley? Marion? Valerie? or Somebody Else?

The voting proceeded as follows:

Votes for Marion: 7 - Felipe, Holly, Jon, Kelley, Megs, Steven, Valerie
Votes for Valerie: 5 - Amber, Charles, Jamie, Jose, Marion

Shockingly, in a 7-5 vote between the two ex-tribe leaders, Marion became the 6th player voted out of the game. However, it would be Amber and Felipe that would be departing that night, as Marion would get to vote at the next tribal council with her delayed departure vote. Would she get a true shot at revenge after losing the power, or would Freya continue to dominate? Find out, in the next recap!
