Bequia

Admiralty Bay

These pictures are of the town of Port Elizabeth at the head of Admiralty Bay. The first is the old mailboat that used to run between islands and now just sits in the harbor, waiting for work. The next are scenes from the town and its waterfront, although I don't show the commercial dock which is not as nice (naturally). There are only 2 streets, Front Street and Back Street, with a few connecting streets between. The Town Square, on Front Street, is right on the beach.

The first 2 shots are from a different part of town more oriented to yachts, which make up Bequia's main tourist trade, although there is a cute hotel, pictured here, named the Gingerbread. The other shot is Diane on the walkway built along the beach. The wall used stone and conch shells. The last shot is of a fisherman that I saw every morning at around 9am coming home from his fish traps near Admiralty Bay.

Friendship Bay

Friendship Bay, on the south side of the island, is more open to the Atlantic. There is one cute hotel there and this is their bar, "Spicy N Herby." The next picture is of some local boats anchored there and the last is the beach with a reminder of the reefs surrounding the bay.
