Dominica

Prince Rupert Bay

The pictures here are of Prince Rupert Bay, which is very large, located on the north-west side of the island. Its a much better port than Roseau, but a smaller town with almost no services. It COULD be a very pretty place. The island itself is the lushest place I've ever seen, except maybe for Hawaii. The wreck on the beach is one of several large freighters just rusting away.

Indian Rivier

These are from our Indian River tour with Martin. Its a fascinating place if a bit overrun when cruise ships come in. We went early in the morning and had a great experience. The last shot is of Martin, who made our stay in Dominica really pleasant.

Tour

These are from our land tour with Lewis. The windward coast is very rugged and very beautiful. The fruits and flowers grown here are fantastic.

These are from the Carib Indian area. The Carib man making the boat was doing it with a machete. He had learned from his father and had been doing it since he was 15. It was amazing work - all done by eye. The last picture is a view from their reserve.

Fort Shirley

Fort Shirley, located in the Cabrits National Park, a really nice place with a modern visitor center. Its right next to the cruise ship dock. The next is the view from the fort with the same Star Clipper ship we saw in Les Saintes, with Portsmouth in the background.
