Important Events
- June 1 - Left Merida on our trip into the Andes with the Andes Tropicales program. Arrived at the town of Mucuchies.
- June 2 - Left Mucuchies and went to El Trigal, the first mucuposada of our Andes trip.
- June 3 - Left El Trigal, traveled 4 hours on horseback/hiking through the mountains to Aguita Azul, the second mucuposada.
- June 4 - Left Aguita Azul, traveled 9 hours on horseback (much hiking) through the mountains and high moors (paramo) to El Nidal, the last mucuposada.
- June 5 - Left El Nidal, via taxi, to Mucuchies and then by bus back to Merida
- June 10 - Left Merida, via 4x4, for the village of Los Nevados
- June 11 - Horseback trips to a working farm and 200 year old flour mill
- June 12 - Returned to Merida
- June 13 - Left Merida for Caracas to visit Giulio and his family
- June 15 - Left Caracas for Puerto La Cruz, the day the bridge was closed!
- June 26 - The waters around PLC, including the canal system, were closed to navigation because of a conference held by President Chavez and leaders of other Caribbean countries, including Cuba. Security was very tight.
- June 29 - The conference ended and the restrictions were lifted.
