St. Martin/St. Maarten is about 900 miles from Bermuda as the crow flies (except a crow can't fly that far!), almost due South. We sailed about 1100 miles from Bermuda slightly to the East to pick up the trade winds from a better angle. We got into the Trades at about 22 degrees North.
