St. Vincent and the Grenadines

St. Vincent and the Grenadines

Our first stop in this country was Bequia (pronounced Beckwee), not St. Vincent because of reported security problems there. The passage to Bequia was about 70 miles from Rodney Bay in St. Lucia and we did it in about 10 hours, so we made pretty good time. We arrived on June 1, after seeing our first pod of dolphins off St. Vincent. The passage itself was very nice with winds about 15-18 knots from the southeast in St. Vincent and Bequia Channels.

The Tobago Cays (pronounced "keys") are just to the east of Mayreau (pronounced Mai row). We finally left the Tobago Cays on June 28 and from Union a day later. The Grenadines are a great place.

We visited Bequia again from December 11 through the 18th, 2001.

We were in Bequia for the 2002 Easter Regatta from March 20 through April 4, then to Canouan for a day and then Mayreau on April 6. We were in the Tobago Cays from 4/6 through the 9th. We also stopped at Petit St. Vincent for 4 days. The Grenadines are still a wonderful location.
