Swami Rama writes in Living with the Himalayan Masters "Our tradition is Bharati. Bha means 'knowledge'; rati means 'lover'. Bharati means 'he who is the lover of knowledge.'"
Though the tradition of Himalayan masters is of the Himalayan caves, and is at least 5000 years old, Bharati is one of the ten orders established by Shankaracharya, some 1200 years ago.
