Fall
1999 - present.
The fall of 1999 was witness to one of those
once-in-ten-year events: the ten year reunion.
Organized under the direction of Love Chocolate
Records©, many former Guests
returned to Cincinnati and to the sites of their
old haunts, many of which have since been converted
from local alt-rock venues into parking lots and
Chinese restaurants, and held a brief concert as
The Uninvited Guest All-Stars. After ten
years it was clear that the music still spoke for
itself.
This
reunion also served as an opportunity to return to
the archives of Love Chocolate
Records©. Love Chocolate© fell
onto hard times with the emergence of the
Seattle-based Grunge revolution in the early 1990s.
Much of the music and promotional materials
produced during the heyday of Love
Chocolate© and The Uninvited Guests
was at this time boxed up and stored in dusty
warehouses in Cincinnati, Ohio and Knoxville,
Tennessee. Now the music and poster art of The
Uninvited Guests, 1983-1989 has once again
surfaced and is being brought together here for
both loyal fans whom we thank for years of support
and a younger generation that never had the
opportunity to experience The Uninvited
Guests. In time the Archive Recovery Project
should make their currently unavailable recordings
accessible to a new generation. Love Chocolate
Records© may have went underground but
never actually went away.
In
the spring of 2000, Love Chocolate
Records©, the corporation holding the
rights to the music of The Uninvited Guests,
and representatives of The Uninvited Guests'
estate approached A&R personnel at the Tasty
Joy Recording Company© of Chicago and New
York which had recently opened a regional office in
Cincinnati. It was agreed the the story of The
Uninvited Guests was compelling enough to
warrant such a tribute site.
It
is unlikely that The Uninvited Guests will
ever play again as a band though a contingent of
faithful continue to hold out hope. But for now,
fans seeking live shows must be satisfied with
The Marvel Bornamens, The Monkey
Biscuits, and The Bees. We encourage you
to stay tuned for more....
We would
like to thank Ven and Kel of sugarCity
and all the members of The Busy Rushes
for being great advocates for us with the
A&R people at the Tasty Joy Recording
Company©. Thanks a lot! Look for their
new songs soon to be on mp3.com.
