STEVEN and KIRKLAND go into Sean's room

STEVEN
Don't touch anything. He doesn't like us being in here.

KIRKLAND
Then why are we here?

STEVEN
I told you, I'm looking for my video game. Sean borrowed it.

Kirkland looks under Sean's desk and finds a bag with what looks like leaves in it.

KIRKLAND
Hey, what's this?

STEVEN
My game?

KIRKLAND
No.

Kirkland hands the bag to Steven.

STEVEN
Umm, I don't think we should be touching this.

KIRKLAND
What is it?

STEVEN
I think it's pot. They showed us what it was in one of those Say No To Drugs videos at school.

KIRKLAND
We better tell Mom!

STEVEN
No, Kirkland, wait. We shouldn't tell Mom and Jake about this just yet.

KIRKLAND
But Mom always says to tell her stuff like this.

STEVEN
We should talk to Sean first. We weren't even supposed to be in here.

KIRKLAND
Mom said drugs can kill you. Why would Sean use them?

STEVEN
I don't know. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about though. We'll talk to Sean tonight. In the meantime, put that back where you found it and let's look for my game.

KIRKLAND
But I think we should tell Mom.

STEVEN
We have to talk to Sean.

KIRKLAND
Mom can talk to Sean. He'll get mad at us anyway. Come on.

Kirkland grabs the bag from Steven and runs out.

STEVEN
Kirkland!

He runs after Kirkland.

THE HARBOR CLUB/SAME EVENING

LORNA and LILA are still chatting as they wait for Matt and Cass.

LILA
Do you know who the baby's father is?

LORNA
Hayley told me. I can't say I'm exactly thrilled that she chose this guy to become friends with in Bay City, but then again, she didn't know what kind of a person he was.

LILA
Is it someone I know?

LORNA
Tito. You know...Grant's killer.

Lila's glass freezes in mid-air as she stares at Lorna.

LILA
You're joking, right? Tito?

LORNA
I wish I was. It seems that he and Hayley got...close...when she first came to Bay City. She didn't know what kind of a person he was.

LILA
None of us did, least of all, Paulina. To think that he's fathered a child....

LORNA
Just keep it between us, okay? I don't think Hayley really wants it made public, either.

LILA
(waving a hand)
Oh, of course. My lips are sealed. And I know you're busy with Hayley lately, so if you ever need someone to watch Gabrielle, let me know. Jasmine would love to have the company.

LORNA
(smiling)
Thanks...that's a good idea, I think. We should try and get a playgroup together for them. I've been leaving her with poor Sergei so much she's probably going to be speaking Russian in a couple of months.

Lila laughs. As she reaches for her water glass, MATT and CASS walk in from the entrance to the Harbor Club. They spot Lorna and Lila, walking over to them.

CASS
(kissing Lila)
You two didn't start without us, did you?

LILA
Of course not...but if you hadn't gotten here pretty soon, we would have.

Matt sits next to Lorna and they exchange a private smile, which doesn't escape Lila's attention.

LILA (cont'd)
Lorna and I were just talking about getting the girls together for a play group.

MATT
Jasmine and Gabrielle in the same room with the same toys? I hope you're planning on hiring a wrecking company when they're done.

Lorna smacks him lightly on the arm. The four begin talking and we:

KC sits with TITO and HAYLEY. Tito is visibly unnerved having KC around Hayley, but manages to keep his cool.

KC
So Hayley, I wasn't aware that Tito has another friend in Bay City. How long have you two known each other?

Hayley looks at Tito out of the corner of her eye, before pasting a smile on her face and answering KC's question.

HAYLEY
Oh, for...a while now. Right, Tito?

TITO
Hmm? Uh, yeah. Yeah. Hayley and I go way back...

Tito makes a point of looking at the time.

TITO
Sorry, but I gotta run. I'm meeting with a study group. Uh, KC, you still want to hit a movie later?

KC nods. Hayley stares at Tito with a question in her eyes. He ignores it.

KC
There's one at nine-thirty.

TITO
What about your Mom?

KC sighs.

KC
Please, let's not ruin a nice night, okay?

TITO
Okay, sure. I guess she wasn't too jazzed then. But I'm glad you're coming.

KC
Me, too.

Tito nods to Hayley.

TITO
We'll talk.

Hayley shrugs.

HAYLEY
See you around.

With an intense look at Hayley that KC is oblivious to, Tito exits.

KC
Hayley...wait, do you have a sister? Lorna Devon? We work together at The Herald.

Hayley proudly grins and nods her head.

HAYLEY
Yes, and I could not ask for a better sister. She's been so supportive with...

Hayley motions to her swollen form.

KC
Oh. Right. It must be tough, having a baby. If I'm prying, tell me, but...did the father skip out?

(Running to door)

REMY opens the door.

Hi, Sunshine.

REMY
Nick! What are you doing here?

NICK
Good evening to you too.

REMY
I'm sorry. Come in.

NICK
What's going on? Are you busy?

Remy ushers him into the living room.

REMY
No, not at all.

NICK
Good. Then you can come with me.

REMY
Where are we going?

NICK
It's a beautiful night. I thought we could take a walk in the park.

REMY
No, I can't. It's a bad time.

NICK
Why not? What's wrong?

REMY
Nothing. I just have tons to do.

NICK
It can't wait?

REMY
No, it can't.

NICK
Okay, Remy, cut the bull. What's really going on?

REMY
I've got to talk to Tito.

NICK
You're what?

REMY
Nick, come on. He needs to talk.

NICK
He needs to fall off the face of the Earth.

REMY

No, I can't believe this, Remy! I can't believe you'd rather go out with that jerk than with your own boyfriend!

REMY
